It’s that time again and I’m in desperate need of updating around both this blog and my adult book blog, Book Binge. The past couple of weeks have been pretty dreadful for me. I’ve fallen behind in reviews and in just the everyday upkeep that I try to usually stay on top but I’ve got me a list of things that I need to get situated so that I can be a happy blogger again.
Here are my to do lists for both of my book blogs:
For The Book Scoop:
- Respond to all emails needing follow up in the blog’s inbox.
- Write reviews for all of the books that I’ve read in the past couple of months.
- Write reviews for books that I’ve read in the past that could be saved for reading slumps.
- Catch up on my IMM posts.
- Update Reviews in Alphabetical Order post, Series post, Authors post.
- Add reviews to Goodreads, Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
- Write up Book Watch posts that’ll last through the summer.
For Book Binge:
- Update Authors and Series posts.
- Start Alphabetical Order post.
- Catch up on reviews, write 10 reviews.
- Update sidebars.
- Add reviews to Goodreads, Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
- Write up monthly posts (New Release Tuesday, Book Watch, Book Confessions, etc…)
I have a lot of work to do so I’ll be one busy beaver this weekend. My inner geek is super excited.
..and that’s your scoop!

Bloggiesta is back y’all!
I participated in my very first bloggiesta in the last one that Maw Books hosted and I got so much done for my blog that I couldn’t have been happier. Well, I’m back to do it again but this time around- I’ll be working on both The Book Scoop and Book Binge. There are lots of things to do for both blogs and I’m going to try to knock out my to-do list for them starting today.
I’m not sure how much time I’ll be able to dedicate to this over this weekend but I’ll try anyway.
Here’s a list of things that I’m going to try to knock out during Bloggiesta:
For The Book Scoop:
Write reviews for all of the books that I’ve read up until now.
- Write reviews for rainy days.
- Write some reading/bookish type discussion posts.
- Add links to my Upcoming Releases post.
Update all of my social network sites.
Add my reviews to Goodreads, Shelfari, Amazon and B&N.
- Analyze and re-evaluate my blog.
- Back up my blog.
- Brainstorm some new ideas for posts.
For Book Binge:
Write reviews for books that I’ve already read for the blog.
- Write reviews for a rainy day.
- Write some bookish/reading discussion posts.
- Clean up the sidebars.
- Update Upcoming Releases page.
Update Reviews by Author page.
- Update Reviews by Series page.
Start adding reviews to Goodreads (start with January reviews).
That’s all I can think of at the moment but it’s plenty enough to keep me busy so wish me luck! And here’s the starting line for me…ready, set, GO, GO, GO!!!
..and that’s your scoop!

Over the weekend, I participated in my first Bloggiesta and it was so much fun! Yesterday, I was an epic fail at finishing my Bloggiesta list but I’m not too mad about it since I got a lot of the things that I wanted to do out of the way.
Here’s my list of things I planned to do:
Write reviews.
- Write back up posts for a rainy day.
- Put out invitations for guest blogs/posts.
Clean up tags, archives, books reviewed, etc.
- Add or edit your about me page, review policy, disclosure policy, privacy policy, create landing pages (for example – an about me for Twitter readers page) or any other pages you might have.
Make sure all of your social network profiles are up to date. Brand yourself through those profiles with color scheme, images, etc.
Visit the Blogging Tips group on the Book Blogs Ning and find ways to improve your blog.
- Work on any specialized projects that you may have going.
Make business cards.
Update TBS spreadsheet.
Post partial reviews on Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Good Reads and Shelfari for all reviews.
ETA: Get TBS signed up for more directories.
ETA: Comment on more blogs.
- ETA: Update Blogroll.
My thoughts on how I did:
- As far as reviews go, I’m up to date on all of the reviews that I needed to write and I started up posts for reviews that I’d like to write on this blog so I’m happy about that.
- I cleaned up all the tags and labels so I was pretty darn happy about that as well because it was a pain.
- I updated my Twitter, my Good Reads and Facebook accounts which was another pain in my butt but it’s done so woo hoo!
- I read through the Blogging Tips page on the Ning page and it had a lot of ideas and great advice. I even made notes and saved them for future references. This makes me happy.
- I made business cards for both this blog and my Book Binge blog and then I signed up for different blog directories, posted partial reviews on B&N, Good Reads and Shelfari. I tried posting reviews on Amazon but it kept stuffing up so I gave up on that. I’ll get back to it eventually, everywhere else…I’m all reviewed up.
- My biggest accomplishment over the weekend was commenting on blogs. I was very happy with the amount of blogs that I visited and the new to me blogs that I found thanks to Bloggiesta. There were amazing blogs that I’ve been missing out on so thanks to Natasha over at Maw’s Books for hosting this wonderful blogging event because it got me out there and finding new blogs.
Overall, I’m thinking that my first Bloggiesta was a total hit and I can’t wait to participate in the next one. It was a great way to spend the weekend!
I spent a total hours of 19 hours on Bloggiesta. Good stuff!
How did everyone else do?

Bloggiesta has started and we’re standing at the starting line now. I had to do a bunch of stuff for work this morning but now that all of that is out of the way, I’m going to start some Bloggiesta stuff.
Here’s a list of things that I’m going to tackle for Bloggiesta.
And that’s really all I can think of doing right now. With my blog barely being a month old, it shouldn’t be too hard but I wanted to get and stay on top of these things before things get out of control.
I’ve got my snacks ready to go and a list of things to do so I’ll be working like a busy beaver to get all of these things done.
I’m just nerd enough to be excited!
Who’s all participating in getting organized with Bloggiesta? I’d love to visit everyone who’s working furiously against the clock to get things done.
