I used to have an entire list of auto-buy authors. Judith McNaught, Julie Garwood, Linda Howard, Hannah Howell, J.D. Robb, Susan Elizabeth Phillips and many, many more.
Over the years many of the authors that used to be auto-buys have fallen off my radar. Mostly because I’m not as impressed with their work as I used to be. Partly because I’ve grown as a reader and my tastes have changed, and partly because the authors have gone in directions I’m not interested in following.
But that isn’t what this post is about.
I recently got Karen Rose’s I Can See You. Karen Rose is one of the authors I continue to auto-buy. I’m continually impressed with not only her romance, but her suspense. Not many authors create a good balance between the two, but Rose definitely does.
Yesterday I was blog hopping (for the first time in about a month) and I came across Nath’s review. Right there it says:
It’s been 6 years since the events of Don’t Tell where Eve was brutally assaulted and left for dead.
My reaction? HOLY SHIT, THIS IS EVE’s BOOK??? SCORE!!!
Yes, I realize it says it right there on the back blurb. But..well, I didn’t read the blurb. Why? Because this is Karen Rose. An auto-buy. I don’t read her blurbs. I see her name on the cover and I buy it.
So I’m curious – What does “auto-buy” mean to you? Does it mean you blindly pick up the book without knowing what its about?
