Judith’s review of All He Wants by C. C. Gibbs
Dominic Knight is a man who is always in control. A self-made billionaire by the age of twenty-three, a genius of innovation, and CEO of a global tech empire, Knight always gets what he wants. And he wants Kate Hart. . .
A rising star of cyber forensics, Kate Hart is well aware of Knight’s reputation as a master manipulator, uncompromising leader, and demanding lover. But she’s determined to stay cool and professional-no matter how hot and bothered her new boss makes her feel.
First he appears in her dreams. Then he comes to her in the night. And so begins a journey of erotic awakening and discovery as rich and powerful as Knight himself. In locales from the sultry red-light district of Amsterdam to the private sexual playgrounds of Hong Kong, Kate will shed every inhibition and surrender every part of herself-body, mind, and soul-to give her lover all he craves, all he needs, and all he demands .
This is book one in a trilogy that will follow these two fascinating characters through a variety of situations. It is a book that is loaded with eroticism and almost palpable sensuality, one that brings together two very strong characters, both of whom are set in their ways, who live hard and work hard and play hard. Their attraction to one another is overwhelming so that giving in was to be expected. Their self-imposed time limit on the affair also gave an intensity to their relationship so that walking away from one another was almost overwhelming for both of them. Yet that is not the end of the story and the ways in which their on-going involvement with one another will keep the reader glued to the chair.
This is a new author for me but I must say that this story is so very well written. It is the kind of book that will remain in the reader’s thoughts after the last page is read. Let me warn you . . . you will be impelled to read the next two books just as I was, simply because you have to know how these two very powerful and emotional people managed to work out all the snarls in their relationship. The author crafted these characters so well that I had little difficulty envisioning them in my mind, in feeling like a was walking along side them as they lived out their initial days together and as their stubbornness took them away from one another. There is kink in this story to some degree, but I felt it was not the kink of the BDSM dungeon but rather the kind of dominance dance that plays out between two very strong personalities. It is a very sexy story but the push pull between the characters is never overwhelmed by the sex scenes. Only a truly good writer knows how to pull that off.
I was delighted to read this novel and I recommend it to those who enjoy this kind of intense story. It’s not for those who read to relax. This will have you squirming at times and at others you will wonder how these two will every work out a way to be together . . . and you will, I think, want to bring them together.
Let me again emphasize that the story does not end with book one. I will be very surprised if you can stop at book one. It’s sort of like one’s favorite cookie or candy bar . . . you can’t stop at just one. I give this book a rating of 4 out of 5.
