Tina’s review of Delectable (Big Sky Pie #1) Adrianne Lee
People all deal with grief in different ways. Some turn to religion to fill a spiritual void, some to drugs and alcohol to numb the pain, and some run away. That is what Quint McCoy did after the sudden, unexpected death of his father – he ran to Alaska for a month-long fishing trip to try to come to grips with his pain and regret. Unfortunately, this was not before he had taken his hurt and pain out on everyone around him, including his wife Callee. And after a especially fervid argument, he tells her to divorce him and walks out the door.
Upon his return he finds that his mother has turned his real estate office into a pie shop. He also finds Callee there as well, but she was only there to help his mother and to return her wedding ring, as their divorce would be final in a few days. When Quint’s mom collapses shortly after his return, he knows that she is counting on him to open the shop on time. And Callee, knowing that Quint won’t be able to do it alone, stays to help for Molly’s sake.
And so begins Delectable, by Adrianne Lee. Delectable is the first book of the Big Pie Sky series. It is an emotional story filled with grief, sadness and loss, but also with love, commitment, and hope. It shows us how pain can sometimes causes us to make the wrong choices and how we have to find our way back to the place that we really belong. As Quint and Callee work side by side for the sake of helping Molly, will Quint be strong enough to admit he was wrong? Will Callee be able to forgive him? Is it even possible to fix what is broken?
I think Delectable was a good start to what sounds to be an entertaining series. I would recommend it to readers who enjoy a romance without all the evocative details. It was uncomplicated and quick to read, and I look forward to seeing what the rest of the series has to offer.
I received this ebook from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
