Hello again!
I’ve read some really great books this week. I’ve been horrible about posting reviews and need to do more, I know. As much as I’ve loved the books I’m reading I’ve just not been able to get in the review typing mode. I’ll be better soon, I swear.
I started my week off with Lover Enshrined. You all know my opinions by now and if you missed that just go down one post and all will be revealed. If you’ve never read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series then shame on you! (except you Sarai!)
After seeing all the talk about Josh Lanyon and his Adrien English Mystery series on Lisabea’s blog I felt compelled to read the books: Fatal Shadows, A Dangerous Thing & The Hell You Say. This was my first foray into the M/M Fiction (well, full-length, I’ve read shorts) and I loved it. The mysteries were great, JL kept me guessing through most of the books wondering whodunit. I loved Adrien – he’s funny, sarcastic, good looking (supposedly like Montgomery Clift – yeah, baby) and he has this dialogues with himself that I just love. His serious love interest throughout the series is Jake Riordan. Ah, Jake. I love Jake, but yet…I want to slap Jake. Let’s just say it’s an ongoing relationship that runs through all of the books and they just need to be together – forevah!! Great books – I highly recommend them. I can hardly wait for the next in the series – Death Of A Pirate King
The next was a short from Shiloh Walker (RAW author) Drastic Measures. It was a nice short story and a good distraction
Manhunting by Jennifer Crusie was up next. I love Crusie’s work and have read almost all of it. This one didn’t disappoint. The main characters were down to earth and easily likeable, the story was funny and quirky and I loved it.
On the recommendation of a friend I read Lacey Alexander’s Voyeur. It was an erotic story of Laura Watkins who has writers block. She goes away to a friends cousins house in Colorado for R & R to see if she can rid herself of this block. The owner of the house, Braden, is checking out the house on his webcam from California and see’s Laura pleasuring herself. What follows is hot, hot, hot. I liked this story and the “relationship” between Laura and Braden…it was a good read. Just be warned if you don’t like a ton of sex, don’t read this book! lol
(FYI – Lacey Alexander is aka Toni Blake who wrote Letters To A Secret Lover that I liked so well)
Last but not least was Unsung Hero, Book 1 of the Troubleshooters series by Suzanne Brockmann. This is the first book that I’ve read by Ms. Brockmann and it was great. I loved Tom and all of his so called paranoia. I loved Joe and Charles and their quarrels, their flashbacks and their friendship. I liked heroine Kelly, but she just got a little annoying after a while. If you haven’t read this put it in your TBR. Thanks Shannon! 🙂
Happy Reading!
Aw, the Troubleshooters…and you’re only a book 1. You’ve got a long haul ahead of you, my friend, but it is sooooo worth it in the end. 🙂 Especially Jules. I loves me some Jules Cassidy. 😀
I have Voyeur. I liked it. I thought it was very sexy and all that good stuff. Have you read Wild, Wicked and Wanton by Jaci Burton? It’s pretty smokin’. A menage, light S&M and someone who likes public sex. It’s three books in one, but boy howdy are there some “interesting” choices in this story. 🙂
I was over on Ciara’s blog and she got an offer for the ARC of the next Ilona Andrews book. Lucky duck. 🙂
Did you get my email?
Hmmm, I read over half of Voyeur, I guess I’m not a huge fan of menages. I loved the first half of the book but when his friend was introduced and they got it on, I stopped reading. I don’t know, I really liked how their relationship was going and the third guy just threw it out the window for me! I thought I liked menages but I don’t think I do! LOL. The novelty of the first few I read has worn off. But I don’t think it’s that either. I just don’t like the it when the third guy’s not going to be part of the whole.
I thought I had seen somewhere that Lacey Alexander was Toni Blake but I had went back and looked and couldn’t find where I saw it. That’s good to know they are the same. I thought I was going a bit wacky!
BL – Yes, from the list of books out for the Troubleshooters I’ll be reading this for a while. I have the next 2 that are due back at the library next Monday so I’ll have to read those this week but then I’ll be interspersing them here and there. I DID read W,W, & W by Jaci Burton. I liked that one a lot! Nope, never got an email – send it again! 🙂
Amy – my advice would be to skip the menage – act like it didn’t happen and move on with the book. lol I say that because if you were liking the story up til then I think you’ll like the rest of it. And no, you’re not going crazy…at least not about this!
OMG OMG OMG are you a Fanyon too? Damn LB and her insistance she now has me hooked up with JenB and they are corrupting my innocent *cough well it was I swear* mind with M/M JenB gave me a list of like 30 authors to check out and the library doesn’t own any *sob* so my wallet is aching and groaning loudly.
I have to say, I totally am a Fanyon now Sarai! I am being corrupted together! Have you read his other stuff yet? You might have to send me that list! lol
I just started reading Manhunting! I’m a sucker for Jenny Crusie books but haven’t read a lot of her earlier stuff – just picked that one and Anyone But You up last week. So far, so good!
Okay Tracy you have actually read more then me so I can’t really help ya. I’m just in love with the man’s writing after one book I SO GET LIKE THAT it almost qualifies me as a stalker but not…
Anywho my library doesn’t carry his stuff so I have to save up money every week to get my fix. *g* I’m getting there though. I do have Dangerous Grounds (won it) that I need to finish.
Its ebook and I stare at a computer all day so getting me to read one online is hard. BUT I WILL DARN IT! I WILL>
Kate – I just love Jennifer Crusie’s work. I know a lot of people don’t, but I’m not one of them! I haven’t any of her collaboration work but I should!
Sarai – I know what you mean about the computer. That’s why I ended up buying an ereader and it was an awesome purchase! I just couldn’t stare at the computer any longer!
Yay!
Er. Sorry. I just love Adrien.Ok and Jake too. You should definitely read Snowball in Hell. It’s an unusual read for the romance crowd, but it’s so moving. And Ghost of a Chance is funny. Love that one.
Suze Brockmann is the shiznitz.I’m a fawning fan girl. I am. My fav is Max, of course, but Into the Storm is my fav. book. And it’s scary scary.
Manhunting? Did I read that one? My god is that a short one?
I swear I need to keep a list on my computer of recs from friends. I think I’m starting to forget them all! lol
I love Adrien and Jake too. I just like them TOGETHER!!
Brockmann I’m totally looking forward to reading more of. I wasn’t sure if I’d like the books after reading the back of the books but her writing style definitely hooked me and kept me on the line.
Manhunting…it’s about 300 pages so not huge but I wouldn’t call it short. Easy read though.
Look at all your sexy and hot reads! Break out the fan 😀
That’s what we should do Tracy Come up with a list of recommended books from our DIK ladies! We could post them somewhere Oh OH OH b/c i so don’t have a life we could start our own blog and call it DIK: THen we could have guessed appearences by the DIK ladies and have them discuss their books… What’d you think?
i’ll host oh how much fun… Seriously we need to email about it.
I suppose it is only a matter of time before I read some M/M as well. I mean all my friends do, so why shouldn’t I right? But I will not jump off a bridge just because you are. Well… unless it isn’t too high and the water is deep enough. Or it is high and we’re bungee jumping. Or if we were drunk, I’d probably follow you over….
