Holly at The Book Binge tagged me!
So here are the rules:
Grab the nearest book. Open the book to page 56. Find the fifth sentence. Post the text of the next two to five sentences in your journal/blog along with these instructions.
Don’t dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the closest. Tag five other people to do the same.
This is from a book that I lent a friend and she just returned it to me so it’s here on my desk at work. (What? Like you never get online at work! pffft!)
“Oh, that’s odd, because she told me to meet her here at
three,” Sam lied, making a show of glancing over his shoulder at the clock on the wall. “It’s just that now, isn’t it?”
He shrugged, his jacket lapels parting to reveal one of the expensively tailored shirts he alwyas wore. This one was pink. The word “popinjay” popped into Sam’s head. Old-fashioned and pretentious.
Any guesses about what it is? Ok – I’m tagging the following people but they are under no obligation to play.
(And you guessed it – the hottie is just for your viewing pleasure – and he was just reading the paper so it’s um, yeah, all related!)
I don’t know what book this is, but I love the passage. Popinjay?? Fun. Oh, and nice photo.
It seems really familiar but I just can’t put my finger on it!
Damn.
What is it?
It’s actually Howl at the Moon by Christine Warren. When I pulled out the phrase I had to read a little more since it had been so long since I’d read the book! lol
I did mine 🙂
I would have never guessed this book. Haven’t read Christine Warren – can you believe it?
