Happy November!
I’m a day behind in getting this post out – forgive me, please. I have no excuse except that I was home alone and I couldn’t pass up the quiet reading time!
The week was a good one – all around. My hubby got back from paradise – he had a great time even though he said that parts of his seminars were incredibly boring and it was all he could do not to fall asleep.
The girls had a great time on Halloween. Halloween is their favorite holiday and they just love everything about it. The decorations, the spooky movies, the dressing up. Unfortunately I sucks and when I was taking pictures I didn’t realize that the camera was taking the pictures but it was in video m
ode. Arg. So some came out very blurry. My oldest would NOT let me re-take the pictures cuz she just didn’t have time for that – whatever. Yes, that’s Bat Girl there in the mask and my oldest was Bad Spirit (basically a cheerleading costume with a skull and crossbones on it – again, whatever)
My kids have already gone through all their candy – all 6 pieces that I let them keep. I know I’m a horrible mom! Ok – not really. I let them keep their 6 pieces then I have them put the candy on the porch and The Great Pumpkin comes and takes it and then leaves a gift in its place to say thank you. Then the Great Pumpkin takes the candy to all the kids who were too sick to go trick or treating.
I actually take the candy to my church where they use it in the lunches that they make for the adults and kids with AIDS. The candy goes to a good cause and I get it out of my house. My kids get some candy but they also get a gift – which is a win/win for everyone IMO.

The Englor Affair by J. L. Langley. Review a couple of posts back – loved it!
Demon’s Kiss by Eve Silver. This was my first foray into anything by this author. Check out my review tomorrow.
The Decadent Duke by Virginia Henley. You can read all about what I thought in my review on The Book Binge, um sometime soon. I’ll post when it goes up.
Into the Fire by Suzanne Brockmann. The latest in the Troubleshooters series was a great book. I just love Brockmann’s writing and I get so into her stories. This was mostly about Vinh Murphy and his best friend Hannah. Throw in a little Decker, Sophia, Danny Gillman and of course Izzy Zanella who is just a stand up kind of guy and you have the makings of a wonderful book. I can’t wait for the next installment, Dark of Night, to come out at the end of January.

I think you have a genius idea for the Halloween Candy. I always remember my mom putting the candy “away” somewhere and I could eat 1 piece after dinner for about two weeks after Halloween. Then it was over for me. No more. She probably threw it out.
I hope you liked the Eve Silver book. I love her stuff. It’s so atmospheric and moody.
Alys – Well I should have posted that my oldest daughter is allergic to corn…candy IS corn syrup so that fact that I let her have even 6 pieces is a miracle. Luckily it’s not the allergy that sends her into shock – I wouldn’t do that!!!
Kati – 1 piece a day for 2 weeks is a good idea as well. I think the novelty wears off after that.

I LOVE how you get rid of the halloween candy! To start something like that would start a war in my house. I wish I had known about something like that years ago.
I can’t wait to see what you thought of Deomn’s Kiss. I LOVE her historicals. I read Demon’s kiss last summer. I know I liked it and am looking forward to her second one, but her historicals have remained with me more so than her other books.
That’s great with the candy. We always stick it on top of the fridge and dole it out a few pieces at a time. After about 2 weeks, we just dump it. Yeah, we’re mean like that.
About the Brockmann… I loved Izzy, but I just didn’t think Dany’s sister was good enough for him (I’ve blocked out her name, LOL!). And Danny ws just such a jerk! She’s gonna have to go a long way to redeem him in my eyes. But Decker and Dave? Yowza. Loved it!!!
Yeah Amy – you kind of have to start The Great Pumpkin thing when they’re really young and have no clue! lol
Lori – yeah I loved Izzy too. Eden, Danny’s sister, definitely not good enough for him but she’s only only 18.5 and has no freakin clue – about most things! I mean she couldn’t even tell him the truth about the baby!
Oh yeah, Decker and Dave – holy moly there’s gonna be a showdown in the OK corral! lol

Suz's last book wasn't my fave, mostly because Vinh and Hannah didn't really worm their way into my heart. I want Izzy to get his HEA, but it might not be for years yet if Danny's sister is the one. The whole age thing kinda squicked me out, since she was not quite 18 when they first meet. And whoa, Dave! Where'd he come from??? Now I'm torn, since I wanted Sophia & Decker to get together. Now, not so sure…
Thanks Stacy! I liked Vinh and Hannah together…Once I had been given the background on their relationship it just got me. Yeah, not sure about the whole Izzy thing – that will be interesting.
Dave was interesting…he’s always just hung in the background but I knew he was hiding strengths. I’m very curious to see what happens.
Hey that’s a great idea!! I work in a children’s hospital and they didn’t allow candy at all due to testing and allergies so we instead passed out books, tatoos ect.. the kids had a blast going from clinic to clinic and offices filling their bags full of treats.

SIX PIECES EACH? Oh, you are a mean mommy. I think my girls ate six pieces on Halloween alone! I think it’s great that your community has a place for families to give the candy to. I’m going to suggest a similar idea to my Girl Scout coleaders. We assemble 100 or so lunches for a soup kitchen with sandwiches, apples and trail mix. Maybe we can add a piece of candy in each bag, too! Thanks for the tip!

Christine – LOL I AM mean. No, as I said my oldest is allergic so the fact that I let her have even 6 is quite giving of me if I do say so myself. 🙂 It seems only fair to do the same for my youngest – not making the older one feel bad .
