A week or so back Kris from Kris ‘n’ Good Books was stating in one of her posts that she had umpteen books to read in her personal TBR, plus books that she need to read for reviews and yet she still found the need to purchase yet more books! Can you imagine? Buying books when you already had a couple hundred just sitting waiting with bated breath to be picked up and read? I can’t! Stop laughing. I’ve never done anything like that before in my life! I said, stop laughing! Oh yeah, like you’ve never done anything like that before – puhleeze!
Ok I admit it! I do it all the time. I go out and I buy books that I want that sometimes sit there for months before they’re touched. Why? Oh honey, these and other questions. I think it’s because I’m sick and twisted and have serious issues I like having the books there ready for me whenever I do get around to reading them. I mean, imagine the horror of getting ready to read that certain book that’s finally got your attention and you go to the bookstore and it’s not. in. stock. I shudder just thinking about it! (I’d probably go home and buy it in ebook but even then, on occasion, it’s not always available in a format I need)
So what do you call a people who buy books that aren’t needed but yet wanted so badly? Book Sluts. That’s right…we’re not beating around the bush. We’re coming out and telling it like it is. Kris was nice enough to draw our lovely advertisement but we couldn’t exactly figure out which ad option to go with.
This is where you come in. Which ad option do you think works best for the new endeavor?
Check out these beautiful Originals by Kris and then check out the poll to the right to vote. Oh, and how many of you are in denial with us? I want to know how many Book Sluts there are out there!
Ad Option 1:
I couldn’t possibly choose. No, really, how can you ask a woman who carried two books around for a week and couldn’t make up her mind what book to read only to pick a third book up and read IT?
Although the “X” for the wink and the A-ha A-ha about did me in. Too funny.
My name is Joanna, and I’m a book slut. A dirty, nasty book slut, and totally unrepentant 😉
I vote for #2.
#2 for the win. You crack me up. I’d have a huge TBR if I had a life, which sadly I don’t. *sniffle*
You’ll be happy to know The WIP now has a title…of sorts. It’s Altered State! I know! Finally! LOL!
My favourite is option 2. I love a good double entendre. 🙂
I like Ad 1. I am such a book slut. I can’t stop!! I am a book nympho!!! Heeellllpp meeeee….
LOL! You’re too funny. But sadly, it’s so true. I have more books than I think I’ll ever be able to read, and yet, where was I Tuesday? Buying more books…sigh.
Guilty ^_^;
I like Ad 1 as well.
I’m going with Ad 1 – only because my TBR can currently be seen from space….with the naked eye.
Rosie – I’m with ya…I have to say I do the same thing on rare occasions!
Jo – Welcome to the Club! 🙂 I love it that you’re totally unrepentant!
LotR – I love the name of the WIP! Wait, I need a life to have a huge TBR? I’m thinking those don’t necessarily go hand in hand! lol
Jenre – that’s my fave too!
KB the book nympho. I can see it in lights. 🙂
Barbara – I’m with you – sadly I haven’t been able to get to the store this week and get those new releases. I think I’m going into withdrawals!
Nath – You so ARE! lol
Wendy *snort* with the naked eye! lol Need I say I’m jealous? 🙂
*hangs head in shame*
I am a book slut.
option 3 pleases me aesthetically
Our market survey seems to be going very well, Tracy. Don’t you think??
Tumperkin – no shame here my friend we call it like it is and hold our heads up high!!! Or our books – whatever!
Kris – it’s going exceedingly well. We’ll be making posters and bookmarks in no time! lol
Three!
I am TOTALLY a book slut and this is awesome. I am torn between 2 and 3!
If you want to talk about anything other than my TBR pile then I am a good girl (no…really!) but I am totally a book slut!
No. 3 for the win for me please!
I’m all about ad #3 – ah ha ah ha.
My name is Holly and I’m a Book Slut and totally proud of it.
But also a little ashamed.
LB – Thanks for the vote
Ana – Thanks! lol Have you been let back into your room yet? Or is the man still running an intervention? 🙂
Marg – heh, well whether that’s true or not I’m glad you’re one of us!
oh Holly – no, no, no. No being even a little ashamed my little sluttish friend. We BS’s hold our heads and our books up high!
I didn’t realize that this was wrong. Is there a 12 step program?
I’ll take #3. Is that the worst category?
Well I guess if I’m gonna be called a slut, I’d rather be called a book slut. ; -) Tracy, my TBR pile has become an art form. I keep waiting to see at what point it will all come tumbling down. Selecting a book from the pile is sort of like playing Jinga. If I pull one book out, will it hold or fall down? lol
My people! Several years ago on the AOL boards, Carrie Alexander’s posters started up the TIBS — Trashy, Indiscriminate Book Sluts. I’m so glad there are others out there!
Yeah I’d be one of those Book Sluts your talking about. MY TBR pile is 300 plus. *drops head in shame*
Wave – I know, it doesn’t seem wrong, now does it?!
Jen – HAHA!! I never thought of my picking a book out of my tbr as playing Jinga but it’s sooo similar! Good call!
Amy – TIBS! A great name!
Sarai – I’m with ya…I look at my Goodreads account and it’s got almost 200 in it but that doesn’t include a shitload of my ebooks so I’m frightened to think of how many the true number in TBR is!
