Drew is a fireman who loves the rush of his job, and is looking for a roommate to share costs. Scott is a doctor looking for somewhere to live that doesn’t leave him rooming with his now ex-lover. The match seems more than perfect when Scott moves in with Drew. It’s more than just costs that they share. They find it hard to resist getting to know each other in the most intimate way, and soon things are heating up enough to make even Drew wonder if they can handle the fire.

So what happens when along comes EMT Eric with his blond good looks and boyish smile? He seems like the perfect match for Drew and Scott, but just Eric moving in is not all they have to deal with. Between family strife and physical injuries, the three of them have to face problems that could tear them apart, and ruin more than just their life together, including their careers and their health. Will this twosome be able to become a threesome or does it spell disaster for all?
Drew is a firefighter and at the hospital when he meets Scott who is doing his residency. Scott ends up driving Drew home and coming in for a quick drink. One conversation leads to another and soon Scott is rooming in Drew’s house with him. The attraction between the two men is great but nothing happens with them for a few months until one day Drew can’t take the sexual tension any longer and pretty much gives Scott a written invitation. Once the two get together it’s a done deal. They are perfect for each other and the relationship grows and becomes stronger.
A year or so later they meet Eric, an EMT who attends the regular poker games that are sometimes held at Drew and Scott’s house. When Eric mentions that he is looking for a place to live Drew and Scott invite him to live with them. But Eric is in love with both men and since they’re together he eventually can’t take the emotional highs and lows he feels from being in the house and sometimes hearing the men at night. He decides to move and that’s when Drew and Scott, after talking about it seriously, make their move on Eric and invite him into their relationship.
The three men face tears and disbelief from their families but they are determined to make their threesome work – and they do a great job at it. The trio is loving and devoted to one another and through conflict and injuries they stay strong and true to each other.
This was a pretty low key book in my opinion. Drew and Scott’s relationship kind of slid into home, so to speak, quite easily and once they were together that was it – no worries. Scott and Drew seemed to want the same thing when it came to Eric and even though there was some tension in the house because of Eric’s feelings, that was a pretty easy row to hoe as well. There was an incident when Drew got injured and had some “complications” from that (that I won’t go into because I don’t want to tell the whole book) and that as well was dealt with lovingly which I enjoyed reading about.
The book on a whole was a very nice tale of the relationship between three men who truly love each other and were willing to make things work no matter what.

  1. Tam

I have to say this is one of my all-time faves. Maybe because it was my first m/m/m. Don't we all look on our first fondly? LOL

It's also set in my city technically, although except for about 2 small hints you'd miss that. Glad you enjoyed it though, it's a feel-good read.

If you are interested in the similar world there is the two books with the firemen who work with Drew who are dancers. God, can't think of it. They are shorter and just m/m but Drew does make an appearance.

  2. This was one of my first M/M romance reads as well. I remember being surprised by the length and depth of the relationships.

Guess at that point I was still stuck in the stereotype that Gay Romance was really just erotica.

  3. Tam- Thanks for the heads up about the related books – I'll look for those!
And I did notice that they were in Canada but didn't realized they lived in Tamland. Cool.

SVZ – I really loved the loyalty and depth of the relationship between the three men as well.

  4. I read this book last year and remember all the hot smexing going on between the three. I liked their relationship & interaction but It didn't reach that point where it emotionally blew me away.

BTW, talking about firemen…I've got Damon Suede with Hot Head on my radar.

  5. Leontine – I felt about the same way about the story. Great sex scenes and I really liked everything else but it just didn't WOW me.
I'll have to look for that book, thanks!

Chris – Well get on it, sister. lol

Lily – A very good story and 3 men are always nice. lol

Orannia – I'd had it for a really long time as well so when I saw that this month's TBR challenge was contemporary I dragged it out. 🙂
