This week’s Booking Through Thursday is all about Harry Potter Love

1. Okay, love him or loathe him, you’d have to live under a rock not to know that J.K. Rowling’s final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, comes out on Saturday… Are you going to read it?
2. If so, right away? Or just, you know, eventually, when you get around to it? Are you attending any of the midnight parties?
3. If you’re not going to read it, why not?
4. And, for the record… what do you think? Will Harry survive the series? What are you most looking forward to?

Holly Says

1. Heck yes I’m going to read it. It’s funny, because I held out for a long time. I was not going to get in on the hoopla. Just on principle you understand. Then, I was stuck at my parents house one night with nothing to read and picked up the first book. I was hooked! I couldn’t believe how well written it was and how gripping the story turned out to be. Needless to say, I finished all four books (the number that were out at that time) in about 4 days and I’ve been chomping at the bit for this one ever since.

2. I’m definitely reading it right away. I’ve already reserved an entire day for it. MM (the fiance) has been warned to stay away until it’s done. I’m not attending a midnight party this time. I did for the last release and it was actually a lot of fun. But this year I had plans to go camping and wasn’t going to be around, so I just ordered it from Amazon instead. Since I’m a Prime member, I’m guaranteed to have it by the release date. WooHoo me. 🙂

3. N/A

4. Yes, I think Harry will Survive. I’m not sure about his little friends, tho. 😛 And I think I’m most looking forward to Snape’s demise and Ron and Hermione snogging. haha

I know some people out there haven’t read this series. Either on principle (like me at first) or for other reasons, but I strongly urge them to try them out. They’re much better than I ever expected.

Isabel Says

1) Are you going to read it? Hell yes I’m going to read it. I usually borrow the books from a friend but I can’t wait that long. I pre ordered the book yesterday. I can’t wait! I started reading the books after watching movie number 1 or 2. I got impatient wanting to know what was gonna happen.

2) If so, right away? Or just, you know, eventually, when you get around to it? Are you attending any of the midnight parties? Umm, when ever the book arrives on my doorstep, I’ll start reading. Nope, I’m not attending any of the parties.

3) If you’re not going to read it, why not? N/A

4) And, for the record… what do you think? Will Harry survive the series? What are you most looking forward to? I think Harry will survive. I’m looking forward to Harry kicking Voldemort’s @$$. Also, I’ve read some spoilers (I’m a spoiler hoe. I can’t help it.) The thing with spoilers, you just never know until you actually see/read it. So I’m reading them but not taking them to heart.

Rowena’s Turn:

1. Okay, love him or loathe him, you’d have to live under a rock not to know that J.K. Rowling’s final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, comes out on Saturday… Are you going to read it? I haven’t read any of the Harry Potter books so I can’t really participate in this week’s BTT…hmmm, am I really missing out on something good?
2. If so, right away? Or just, you know, eventually, when you get around to it? Are you attending any of the midnight parties? No, Yes and No.
3. If you’re not going to read it, why not? Because I’m just not that into Harry, *gasp*
4. And, for the record… what do you think? Will Harry survive the series? What are you most looking forward to? Hmm, I don’t know.

And there you have it, ladies…our BTT for this week! See ya’ll next week…

  1. Ok, I don’t feel like doing my own post on this but I want to contribute!!!

    1. Echoing Isabel, Hell yes!
2.Well I have the audiobook on reserve at the library so I’ll have to wait for it to come in. I am attending a midnight event. Our library is having a HUGE shin-dig I will be taking tons of pics and posting them asap. Last Sunday we decorated the entire library. We have a great hall complete with paper candles hanging from the ceiling, a herbology class room, a Honeydukes an sooo much more..it’s so fucking awesome. I’m working 4pm-1am on Friday then 9am-6pm on Saturday. I could have worked earlier in the day Friday but all the good stuff is happening after 6pm and I just HAD to be a part of it!!!!!

    4. I think Harry will survive. The series is after all a Children’s series, it’s about good vs. evil. I don’t think you can have evil triumph. That’s all I’m committing to though! I’m sooo excited!!!

  2. 3. If you’re not going to read it, why not? Because I’m just not that into Harry, *gasp*

You’re my Harry Potter twin, Rowena. First Chris Richardson, now this. That’s some scary shit.

  3. Well I just finished book #1, so I got some catching up to do, and it most likely won’t be this weekend. I have the other books but I’m gonna wait til #7 is out in pb. I’m sure though I’m gonna hear all the spoilers beforehand, so I’m prepared for that.

Just from seeing the movies it seems that Harry has suffered a lot of loss in his life, so I’m thinking (hoping) he won’t die. I want Hermione & Ron to get together, so I’m hoping they don’t die either. We’ll soon find out.

  4. I can’t wait. I think that a lot of romance authors could get something out of Rowling’s rich, detailed, and pretty effortless worldbuilding.

We had a Harry Potter party at work this week, and we’re going to one at our library tomorrow (after we pick up the book).

  5. I’m with Rowena.

I stay away from YA books as a rule because I do like romance and yes, I like sex in my books. I don’t want to read about teens having sex – not that that’s in the books but I’d be all ‘kiss her you fool’ and stuff and I soooo don’t want to be that person. There I said it.

I think these books are probably awesome but I don’t want to read about kids. Not sure why. Maybe because I read YA books all through my teens. I only discovered romance books at 18 whereas many readers had been reading them for years. So I’m thinking maybe they missed out on these kind of books whereas I did my time 😉

Maybe I’ll read them some day but I’ll more likely see the movies. Not now, but one day.

All the same, I’m happy for everyone who has been in love with this series. I’m also killer impressed that Rowling has put an end to the series when there are authors out there beating their series into the ground.
