Hero: Cole Harrison
Heroine: Diana Foster
Grade: B
Let it be known… here on this blog that I’m a Judith McNaught fan girl. I don’t think I’ve come across a book written by Judith McNaught that I haven’t either absolutely loved or thought was a good read. Of course, I love some of her books more than others but for the most part, I just love her writing. She writes books that are always twisting every emotion out of me. For me, she’s just that good.
In Remember When, we have the heroine, Diana Foster who is not having such a great week. She was jilted by her fiance for some younger chick and she’s taken over the family business, which is a failing magazine and turned it into the Martha Stewart of all magazines and she’s doing remarkably well but then she’s left modeling a necklace which no one would buy…until the hero, Cole Harrison. The old stable boy for one of her childhood friends. Diane and Cole were friends when they were younger, when Cole was poor and now, they’re all this many years older, Cole is a whole lot richer…maybe even richer than Diane and the Diane he knew is the same shy little thing he remembered from so long ago who used to pack food for him and bring over to his house so that he wouldn’t go hungry.
Cole turns into Captain Save a Hoe and buys the necklace that Diane is modeling so that she can save face and then he drops the biggest proposal ever on her and after no careful thought, she jumps in and accepts.
So 24 hours later, Diane and Cole are married (in name only of course) and over the course of the book, they fall in love and Diane sticks by Cole’s side when he needs someone the most.
Lots of things happened in this book and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this book. It’s not my most favorite of JM’s work but I do love the characters in this story. I enjoyed the heck out of Diane’s family, the way they all pulled together to be there for each other and even, Cole warmed my heart. I love those kinds of families, I have a family like that myself and so it’s so good to read about the kind of family I have in books because I’m such a family oriented person. It was good to see that Cole had people in his life aside from his uncle who had his back and to see them all rallying for Cole while he was in court, was just…great.
I was a real sucker for the secondary characters like Corey Foster, Spence Addison (HOTTIE ALERT!), Grandma and Grandpa, Corey’s Mom, they were all just great characters and had me loving the story all the more.
My most favorite part of this book was when Cole is back home, awaiting the trial and Diane first comes to see him, right after she gets back herself…and when she asks him what he’s doing, his answer?
“I’ve been praying…for you.”
To hear Cole say that, being the kind of man he is…not really believing in God…for him to be all about it if it means that it’ll bring Diana back in his life, totally made my heart sing with delight! This book is so good and I totally recommend it to anyone who wants to read something, cute and contemporary…this book rocked my socks and Cole is a total fox.
Go forth and read this book, what are you waiting for?
Okay, the whole praying for you thing tugged at my heartstrings. I’ll have to read this one soon.
This was a great book 🙂 I mean, different than her historicals, but still great 😀 by the way, if you’re a fan of Corey and Spence, they have their own story in an anthology… can’t remember which one though…
Oh yeah. I loved it, too. Fan-frickin-tastic. JMcN rocks. I’ve totally glommed her this past 6 monoths or so.
I LOVE!!! this book. LOVE IT! It’s one of my all time favorite McNaughts (of course, I say that about EVERY book of hers..LOL).
I didn’t care for Corey and Spence’s book, but this one? I was just over the moon about it.
Um, I haven’t read anything by McNaught…….better get on that huh?!
Oh Mollie, you really do need to read her. She’s a staple in romance..one that’s hard not to like..even when you hate her. LOL
Oh, gosh, Mollie run to your nearest bookstore and buy yourself a JM novel. Really, run right now. Barnes & Noble doesn’t close until 11:00 p.m. 🙂
Seriously, you can’t go wrong with a JM novel. Although Remember When is not one of my favorites, other romances still pale in comparison. The woman is simply genius when it comes to penning a fantastic love story.
I’ve actually picked up a few of her books. (At the UBS for a dollar no less!)
I couldn’t remember the names of the titles when I was picking them out but I did recall some of the hero names…recognized them from the Hero of the Month.
I think I have Perfect and Almost Heaven and maybe that Kingdom of Dreams or….something like that?! I just haven’t gotten around to reading any of them yet!!!!
