Thrifty Reader Ames is one of our most favorite people around blogland. Her reviews always make us laugh and she’s just a joy to be around. I love her all the more because she’s just as big a fangirl of Suz as me and Casee are and here’s why the lovely Ames loves Suz:
Imagine me a few years ago, a younger-ish woman just begging for some book recommendations (this was before I discovered blogging). The latest victim of my whining was Linda, the owner of my favorite used book store. She told me to try out Suzanne Brockmann, said that a lot of her customers who liked romance liked her. And look at that, she had a copy of the Unsung Hero right there on the shelf. (She’s such a good salewoman, isn’t she? LOL) So I bought the Unsung Hero and started reading it as soon as I got home. (Also want to point out, Linda knows how I have to read a series in order, she’s cool that way.)
Now I am not really a fan of romantic suspense, so imagine my surprise when I was actually liking the book! And then the most magical thing ever happened. Suzanne Brockmann had one of the characters in the Unsung Hero mention a book called Friday, by Robert A Heinlein. I said to myself, “Self, this Suzanne Brockmann woman is the coolest ever.” You see, Robert A Heinlein is one my favorite authors. So if Suz knew the awesomeness that was RAH, I just knew she’d be awesome too. And I was right. One mention of a book I’d read years ago and an instant fan was born. I’ve read every Troubleshooters book since then and I’ve never looked back. I’ve also read from her Tall, Dark and Dangerous line, but Troubleshooters is my fave. Also, Suz has a reissue coming out this year titled Time Enough for Love. You know who else has a book called that? Robert A Heinlein. And that’s one of my favorite books of his. It’s fate, don’t you think? LOLNow the Unsung Hero was enough to get me through the door, but what’s kept me coming back for more? I’m not a Sam and Alyssa fan. Max and Gina were my go-to couple. I loved the older man/younger woman conflict. Their book was one I was really looking forward to. And I love how it played out. Quickly on the heels of that couple’s HEA was the development of Robin and Jules’ story. Jules has been an excellent character throughout the series and any book with him in it is all the better for it, I say. His journey was an interesting one and I’m glad he got his HEA too. And now, now it’s all about Izzy.Izzy Zanella first came to my attention in Into the Storm. He was the wise cracking, Brokeback Mountain quoting comic relief secondary character of my dreams. And I cannot wait for his book. I think I’m more invested in this character than any other of Suz’s. *sigh* I can’t wait to read his book. So he’s my latest reason for loving Suzanne Brockmann. *g*So now I’m curious – who is your favorite Suzanne Brockmann couple? From any of her books, not just the Troubleshooter series?
Awww, I can totally see why Max and Gina are your favorite couple Ames. Your personality and love of older men so reminds me of Gina. Thanks so much for participating in this month’s author spotlight, Ames!
Whaat?? You don’t like Sam and Alyssa? They are my favorite couple no doubt about it!
I don’t NOT like them, they’re just not my favorite. LOL
I like to go “Out of Control” with Kenny, the “Wildcard” and Savannah! My favorite of all the Brockmann books!
Just stopping by to give a shout out to Ames!!! Hey honey, I followed your bread crumbs over here!!!
