A Look at 2012

Happy New Year!
I can’t believe it’s already 2013!
Weren’t we just waiting for Y2K? I mean, seriously, time has flown.
I know it doesn’t move as fast as I think but as I get older it seems
to move at an unbelievable pace. Probably not as true for you
younger chickies. :0)
So I was reviewing my 2012 reading year
right as I was making a new spreadsheet for my 2013 reads. It was a
really great reading year, that’s for sure. It gave us some really
great books and so many other things. I got to meet with bloggers
that I’d met online and I got to go to some pretty damned fun events.
Overall a great year!
I read 391 books (which of course
includes short stories and novellas) in 2012. My goal, according to
my Goodreads challenge was 350 so at least I passed that. I also
managed to finish my TBR challenge despite consistently posting my reviews ahead of time! Lol

Looking back on the year my favorite books were (in no particular order and not all published in 2012 – these are books that I rated 4.5 or 5 stars):

Oracle’s Moon by Thea Harrison

Not Wicked Enough by Carolyn Jewel

Strawberries for Dessert by Marie
Sexton

Concubine by Jill Knowles

Just Down the Road by Jodi Thomas

The Duke’s Perfect Wife by Jennifer
Ashley

The Witness by Nora Roberts

Country Mouse by Aleksandr Voinov and
Amy Lane

Rainshadow Road by Lisa Kleypas

Beguiling the Beauty by Sherry Thomas

The Governess Affair by Courtney Milan

Tangle of Need by Nalini Singh

Slow Summer Kisses by Shannon Stacey

Lucky in Love by Jill Shalvis

The Only Gold by Tamara Allen

A Lady by Midnight by Tessa Dare

Hard Tail by JL Merrow

Mina Wentworth and the Invisible City
by Meljean Brook

Take a Breath by Tam Ames

A Notorious Countess Confesses by Julie
Anne Long

I Kissed an Earl by Julie Anne Long

Unraveled by Courtney Milan

Lord’s Fall by Thea Harrison

In Bed With a Highlander by Maya Banks

Lord Stillwell’s Excellent Engagements
by Victoria Alexander

The Scandalous, Dissolute, No-Good Mr.
Wright by Tessa Dare

Chance of a Lifetime by Jodi Thomas

Update:
OMG I just realized these books weren’t on the list – how could I forget them! (thanks, JenM)

Four Kisses by Bonnie Dee

The Past Came Hunting by Donna Ann Bell

Beauty in the Beast by Christine Danse

Winging It by Deborah Cooke

About Last Night by Ruthie Knox

Player and the Prude by Daisy Harris

Highland Bride by Hannah Howell

Breath in Embers by Anne Calhoun (in the Red Hot Holiday anthology)

Heart of Steel by Meljean Brook

Forever and a Day by Jill Shalvis

A damn good list if I do say so myself!  Like I said, a lot of great books.
There were some bombs that I read this
past year as well but I’m trying to forget those so I won’t bring
them up at all. Lol
So what were a few of your favorite
books of 2012? If they weren’t on my list and you’d recommend them
then please share – I’m always up for recommendations!
Again, happy 2013! Here’s to another
great reading year!

  1. Tam

Wow you had a productive reading year. You read a lot more long books than I do and I barely made 355. 🙂 And you are sweet to say that about my story. Thanks.

Of those I've only Strawberries and Concubine, but I loved them both. May 2013 bring us all many more great books.

  2. None of my faves are on your list, so here they are (but the last 2 are part of series and really shouldn't be read out of order):
    Easy by Tammara Weber
About Last Night by Ruthie Knox
    Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews
    Fair game by Patricia Briggs

Here's to more happy reading in 2013!

  3. Tam – I only said what was true – and I really liked that book of yours. 🙂
What were your top 3 books for 2012?

Chris – No favorites? Let me know what they are! 🙂

Orannia – I really liked Hard Tail a lot. Definitely worth the read. Happy New Year!

JenM. – OMG thank you for commenting! Because of your comment I realized that a few books had been left off of the list. I posted my 4.5 and 5 star reads and apparently my filter wasn't working correctly the first time (or operator error which is more like it). I noticed this because I knew I loved About Last Night and wondered why you mentioned it wasn't on there. Geezsh! Anyway…I've heard good things about Easy but I don't read too much YA or New Adult – maybe I'll have to check it out. I loved Fair Game but read it in 2011 and I still want to read Gunmetal Magic as I love Briggs' writing!
I'm going back to adjust my list now. 🙂
