It’s a new year with new books coming out all over the dang place. There are so many books coming out this month that I’m super duper excited about. Check out the stash of books that made it onto this month’s wish list.
1. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith.
Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?
Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan’s life. She’s stuck at JFK, late to her father’s second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon to be step-mother that Hadley’s never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport’s cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he’s British, and he’s in seat 18C. Hadley’s in 18A.
Twists of fate and quirks of timing play out in this thoughtful novel about family connections, second chances and first loves. Set over a 24-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver’s story will make you believe that true love finds you when you’re least expecting it.
I think of all the books that are coming out this month, this is the book that I’m looking forward to reading the most. How can you not be excited about a book about two people meeting for the first time and making a connection that they won’t ever forget? This book needs to be on my bookshelves already!
2. Winter’s Kiss by Jennifer Echols.
Cozy up to a double dose of winter-themed romantic comedy with two books in one bind-up.Lexi has come up with a master plan to make Cameron break up with her: get him to fall for another girl so she’ll be free (and guilt-free, too). But when the plan goes well—too well—Lexi starts to wonder if she hasn’t made a terrible mistake. Has she let the perfect guy get away? And is it too late to get him back?
Meanwhile, Hayden and Nick’s steamy relationship has ended in a frosty breakup, and now they’re just friends. But when they decide to go head-to-head in a boarding contest, the friendly competition gets heated….Will sparks start to fly on and off the slopes?
This one is on my list because duh, it’s a Jennifer Echols and even though I haven’ been thrilled with her latest books, I’m still a fan of hers and I keep hoping for another Gone Too Far. I have every faith that she’ll come through for me with one of these and I sure hope that it’s with this one. I’ve got my fingers crossed!
3. The Darlings in Love by Melissa Kantor.
The Darlings have just begun their second semester of ninth grade, and love is in the air.
Victoria: The sweetheart
Jack: The irresistible songwriter…but is he writing off Victoria?Natalya: The overachiever
Colin: The perfect match, if only the game were less complicatedJane: The drama queen
Simon: The Greek god… of mixed signalsIn the face of both joy and heartbreak, the Darlings know that they’ll always have each other. Boys come and go, but the Darlings are still forever.
This book looks like it’d be too cute for words and something my daughter would enjoy. I got it for review and read it, enjoyed it and now I really have to own the book. This made it onto my list so that you guys could put it on your wish lists. It’s a great read.
High school senior Justina Griffith was never the girl who dreamed of going to prom. Designer dresses and strappy heels? Not her thing. So she never expected her best friend, Ian Clark, to ask her.
Ian, who always passed her the baseball bat, handle first.
Ian, who knew exactly when she needed red licorice.
Ian, who promised her the most amazing night at prom.
And then ditched her.
Now, as the sun rises over her small town, and with only the help of some opinionated ladies at the 7-Eleven, Justina must piece together — stain by stain on her thrift-store dress — exactly how she ended up dateless. A three-legged Chihuahua was involved. Along with a demolition derby-ready Cadillac. And there was that incident at the tattoo parlor. Plus the flying leap from Brian Sontag’s moving car…
But to get the whole story, Justina will have to face the boy who ditched her. And discover if losing out at prom can ultimately lead to true love.
Filled with humor, charm, and romance, Ditched: A Love Story by debut novelist Robin Mellom will have readers dreaming of love on their own prom nights.
This sounds like a Hangover kind of book and I was all about it. I read the book and even though the main character drove me bat crap crazy, I still enjoyed the book.
5. The Catastrophic History of You and Me by Jess Rothenberg.
Brie’s life ends at sixteen: Her boyfriend tells her he doesn’t love her, and the news breaks her heart – literally. But now that she’s in heaven, Brie is about to discover that love is way more complicated than she ever imagined. Back in Half Moon Bay, her family has begun to unravel. Her best friend knows a secret about Jacob, the boy she loved and lost – and the truth behind his shattering betrayal. And then there’s Patrick, Brie’s mysterious new guide and resident Lost Soul who’s been D&G (dead and gone) much longer than she… and who just might hold the key to her forever after. With Patrick’s help, Brie will have to pass through the five stages of grief before she’s ready to move on… but how do you begin again, when your heart is still in pieces?
I’ve been seeing this book around blogland lately and I’m mighty curious to see just how much I’d like it. It’s got an interesting premise so that’s why this one made it onto my radar….and my wishlist.
6. Hallowed (Unearthly #2) by Cynthia Hand.
For months Clara Gardner trained to face the fire from her visions, but she wasn’t prepared for the choice she had to make that day. And in the aftermath, she discovered that nothing about being part angel is as straightforward as she thought.
Now, torn between her love for Tucker and her complicated feelings about the roles she and Christian seem destined to play in a world that is both dangerous and beautiful, Clara struggles with a shocking revelation: Someone she loves will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.
In this compelling sequel to Unearthly, Cynthia Hand captures the joy of first love, the anguish of loss, and the confusion of becoming who you are.
Read and loved the first book so of course I want to read this one. I can’t flippin’ wait! I’m so stoked that I have this book to read for review. I’m anxious to dig right in but I still need to buy a copy for my bookshelves because I like the look of the cover. =)
And there you have it, what books are you looking forward to coming out this month?

i have winter kiss for review /it sounds sweet/not here yet
hope yuou get them all
Awesome books!!
I read Ditched and it it does have a bit of the Hangover vibe (but very tame and age appropriate!) and it was pretty fun!
The Echols is a re-print… I think I have it in my TBR pile. I should pull it out and read it 🙂
I’m most interested in The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. Sounds like a great book 🙂 Although because it’s a 24-hour-period book, I keep thinking Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist… Like the feel…
I’m curious about The Darlings in Love… but 9th grade, what age is that? 14 or 15?
@Roro: I’ve tried three different times this week alone to get my butt to the bookstore and grab that book but something always comes up. I’m going to go get it on my lunch break now, haha.
Lucky, I’m anxious to get Winter’s Kiss in my greedy little hands too but I’ll have to wait for that one.
@Alex: You’re so right, Ditched was very age appropriate but there were times when I wanted to smack some damn sense into Justina.
@Nath: I don’t have the Echols and it has a nice new cover so I’m still anxious for it.
I haven’t read Nick and Nora’s Playlist but I did see the movie and thought it was cute. I’m going to read this one though, I’ll let you know how it goes. =) Did you already get it and plan on reading it or no?
Yep, 9th grade is about 14-15 but the book reads the way that 9th graders think, they’re in love and it’s real…=) it was a cute read, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
I hadn’t heard anything about The Catastrophic History of You and Me, but it sounds really good– like Elsewhere, in a way– and intrigues me… except for the setting. If it’s based in the real Half Moon Bay, I might have trouble reading it, because I sometimes have trouble forgiving authorial liberties.
