Review: Destined Mate by Katie Reus

Two hundred years ago, Angela Lavigne and Alpha werewolf Knox had a shared a passion neither could control. Then Angela was turned into a vampire and disappeared.

The last thing Knox expects is for Angela to show up on his doorstep centuries later on a rescue mission, as sexy and irresistible as ever. And he can sense how much she still wants him, too. She’s gone against both their species’ rules and trespassed on his land. By law he can keep her as long as he wants—and Knox doesn’t intend to let her go ever again.

As their desire explodes once again, Knox is more sure than ever that he’s must claim her forever. But as vampire and werewolf, they are natural born enemies. Can she truly be his destined mate?

Angela and Knox were great lovers but they hadn’t ever spoken of their feelings for each other. Being a werewolf Knox hated vampires so when Angela was turned into one against her will she knew that she must leave Knox because she didn’t want to die and she didn’t want him to have to live with the memory of killing her.

Now it’s 90 years later and Angela is infiltrating Knox’s werewolf land to rescue her best friend, also a vampire. When she is discovered, captured and kept into Knox’s room she’s sure that she’s a dead vamp. Little does she know that Knox has very different feelings toward her that she believed and that she’s changed her life forever.

I really love shifter books and this one was no different. Although this was a shorter story in length and I didn’t get a ton of background on the couple, there was definitely enough for me to get to know them enough to appreciate the feelings, both good and bad, that they had for each other. Knox’s werewolf possessiveness was hot instead of creepy as some might think. Angela for all of her badassedness (that’s a word, right?) was a bit of a soft touch and that endeared her to me as well.

This is a book in the Harlequin Nocturne Craving line – a sexier yet longer format from the Nocturne Bites. I really enjoyed this story and will definitely look into reading more Cravings.
