Saturday Song

Glee’s version of Beautiful by Christina Aguilera is just an incredible thing.  The character Mercedes coming to terms with her physical appearance and feelings of worth is so poignant and well, beautiful.  This video certainly isn’t the best version that I could have posted but the addition of Quinn and Mercedes having the conversation first adds so much to the musical portion of the video.  And yep, I cry every time I see it.  So, get the tissue and enjoy.

  1. Tam

She has an amazing voice. I've gotten teary eyed more than once watching Glee. They do manage to put some very powerful messages in with the fun and over the top camp.

  2. Chris – You're welcome! 🙂

Tam – She really does have a great voice. They DO manage to get some good messages in there, don't they. But I like the fun and camp too. lol

  3. I adore this show and it's moments like this that are the reason. Another emotional scene was in the Lady Gaga ep where Kurt's dad yells at Finn about using sexual slurs. That scene was incredible and makes you wish everyone was like the dad.

  4. It's a great version of the song, and placed into context (with the conversation), it's even better!

And I'm with the other commentators – Glee manages to mix completely upflifting, over the top and powerful messages very well. I also love Quinn's version of It's A Man's World.

And yes, so love how Kurt's father is portrayed. He loves his son, but you can see his conflict…and his determination to work through it.

    Roll on Season 2!
