This month’s Hero of the Month is Jack Force from The Blue Bloods Series by Melissa De La Cruz. What makes Jack so special is the amount of work he had to go through to get me to love him. Jack isn’t one of those heroes where I loved him right off the bat. He had to work to win me over. My love of Jack grew over the course of the series and it wasn’t until I realized the depths of his feelings for Schuyler that my heart softened toward him.
The love that Jack shares with Schuyler is so different from the love that Schuyler’s best friend, Oliver Hazard-Perry has for her. Oliver’s love for Schuyler is free and open whereas Jack’s love is complicated. Over the course of the books, I was such a huge Oliver fan but Jack’s appeal slowly grew on me and surfaced for the most part in Book 3, Revelations.
Benjamin Force, known to us Blue Blood fans as Jack Force fought against Lucifer with Mimi Force. He’s known in the Blue Bloods world as Abaddon, the Angel of Destruction and his soul mate is Mimi but in this cycle, he meets Schuyler and against all of the rules, he falls in love with her. Their romance blossoms ever so slowly because Jack tries to do the right thing but true love wins out when it counts and Jack wants Schuyler.
Their love was a forbidden one and watching Jack struggle with his feelings for Schuyler and his duty to the Blue Bloods was at times frustrating but at other times heart breaking. Jack is that guy that wants to be good and deep down he is good but for the most part, he’s pretty bad. I mean, he’s the freaking Angel of Destruction after all. Whenever he would do his little creepy twin thing with Mimi, I would want to smack him upside his head but on the whole, Jack was the man.
He always came through and that’s what mattered with me. Or at least, that’s what changed things for me and Jack. I knew that he was struggling and I knew that he was in a bad spot and because of those things, he became real to me and I started softening toward him because I wanted him and Schuyler to somehow end up together.
I’ve cast Alex Pettyfer as Jack because holy hot damn this little boy is a cutie…just like Jack.
If you haven’t read the Blue Bloods series, you should definitely fix that because trust me, you definitely want to know Jack Force.
Reading order:
So what about you guys? Yay or nay on Jack Force? Do you love him or hate him? Share your thoughts with me.
That boy is too hot for his own good! 🙂
Too hot!And yes, I never read any of the books.I might soon! =)
I heartily agree and he’s going to be in a lot of YA movies coming out soon. I can’t wait!
You guys should read the books too because they’re addicting.
Jack grew on me over the course of the books. Right now I do love him. I like he was brave enough to be with Schuyler.
I love Jack Force! Alex Pettyfer is a fantastic choice for Jack… now for someone to make a Blue Bloods movie!
Oh my fricken gosh he is so HOT! Great choice for Jack Force. I love how he is with Schuyler despite the fact that he’s going against all odds UGH! but my heart is still with Oliver, sorry to bring him up but its TRUE!
Man I love Jack Force so much, That’s exactly the way I feel when you said that he has become real to you. Can’t wait to read Misguded Angel and Lost in time!! Xo!!
Great casting selection! I think I also picture Adam Pettyfer when thinking of Jace Wayland (from the Mortal Instruments series).
I agree with your love for Jack Force though, although he never had to win me over; I was never fond of Oliver. I admire Jack’s protective nature when it comes to Schuyler. In The Van Alen Legacy, I loved the way he defended her against Leviathan in Paris and then later in the book against Lucifer. /swoon. There’s just something about him being so gentle yet bad ass.
Love Jack like anything …Just wish he was real !! <3
