Nauti and WildJudith‘s review of Nauti and Wild by Lora Leigh and Jaci Burton

Lora Leigh, the New York Times bestselling author of Nauti Intentions and Nauti Dreams revisits that sultry and “sinfully good” Southern landscape with a story of a good girl gone bad–and doing it for all the hottest reasons. But she’s not the only one going down that road . . .

Jaci Burton, the national bestselling author of Riding Wild and Riding Temtation lets loose in a story of a hot biker hired to keep an eye on the reckless daughter of a Navada senator. She’s hooked up with an outlaw biker gang–a dangerous move that makes the wild beauty more vulnerable than she imagined.

Both of these authors are known for their hot and sizzling erotic romance tales and this anthology is the latest “notch in their belts.” Lora Leigh features hero John Walker, Jr., a man on the run from his own deep hurts, from a city that has taken more of him than it has given back, and from a diminutive female he has desired for years, who has loved him in return, but whose love he has spurned. Now she is in danger, the kind of danger that can mean death, and John must ante up–dealing with his own feelings, putting aside his issues, and opening his home and his heart to the woman who has never left his mind and his dreams.

Jaci Burton features a hero that is tall, built like the side of a brick silo, dark, dangerous, and working undercover for the U. S. Government as a part of the Wild Riders. His cousin is the leader of a biker gang known as the Hellraisers, suspected of running drugs. However, Rick’s assignment, apart from any intelligence he can glean about the drug running, is to protect Ava Vargas, daughter of one of Nevada’s U. S. Senators. He has to find out why Ava has suddenly left the world of academia in order to ride with the biker gang. As a former member of the gang, Rick has an easy “in” and things get interesting from there.

Both these stories are amazing in their depth in spite of their novella format. Each writer has really come through with a plot that is engaging, characters that are distinct and charismatic, and action which keeps the reader moving forward. No boring spots in either of these stories. I was amazed at how emotionally involved I got with both of these stories and was very sorry to see them end. I immediately got hold of another one of each author’s writings and continue to enjoy their writing style, their story-telling expertise, and their ability to wrap their literary fingers around the heart and mind of the reader.

Underneath it all, there is the issue of how one deals with a life-long friend who has succumbed to the advances and charms of a lover but who is clueless to the real lack of character that lover possesses. This is also the sub-plot of Ava and Lacey’s friendship, the hurt and anxiety that is inevitable when one of the friends begins a life that is filled with irresponsible living, easy sex, and lots of drugs and alcohol. What is a friend to do? Ms Burton deals with this issue with skill and a gentle touch.

Lastly, both these heroes are gems of the first water! John has come to a sense of peace in the year he has been away from Boston, but he is mature enough to recognize that he has to deal with his attachment and feelings for Sierra, his father’s goddaughter. Rick Binetti is a loner, a young man who has been rescued by his association with the Wild Riders and yet who is still trying to deal with issues of living and relationship. Both men are men of honor, and truly that covers a multitude of sins in my book.

This is a really good read, and I think all who have enjoyed the writings of these authors will find themselves engaged and delighted by this newest offering.

I give this book a 4.5 out of 5.
