Holly‘s review of Bared by Jill Shalvis

She’s the object of every man’s fantasy

Emma Willis never saw herself as a model — especially for a sensual fantasy calendar — until she has to do a photo shoot in her twin sister’s place. When Emma puts on barely-there lingerie in front of the photographer, hottie Rafe Delacantro, she feels sexy…and more uninhibited than she’s ever been. Before she knows it, she’s enticing him to let off a little steam with her!

The minute Emma shows up, Rafe knows she’s not the model he’s expecting. She’s too fascinating, too tempting for him to resist. Fine. They’ll share a steamy fling that will end when the shoot is finished. But the more time he spends in Emma’s seductive presence, the more involved he gets…and the more he wants of her. He now has to convince her that their affair can last after the camera is put away….

Bared was on sale for $2 at B&N.com so I decided to try it. I’m a fan of Shalvis and have yet to be disappointed. This was a quick read.

Emma is used to bailing her twin sister out of trouble. So when Amber calls and asks Emma to fill in for her at a photo shoot she can’t refuse, even if she can’t imagine taking her clothes off in front of a camera. But a quick getaway to Hawaii is more temptation than she can pass up. But Emma doesn’t expect anything like sexy photographer Rafe Delacantro. He’s sexy as all hell and he has Emma thinking all kinds of dirty thoughts -and acting in the most uninhibited way.

Rafe knows immediately that his model isn’t who she says she is. Amber and Emma Willis might be identical twins, but they’re as different as night and day. But she isn’t willing to fess up, so Rafe decides to mess with her a little bit. But in the end he’s the one to get all riled up.

Emma is a staid workaholic, the exact opposite of her carefree sister. She’s spent her entire life trying to live up to the expectations of her mother and bailing her sister out of tight spots. She doesn’t know how to love and doesn’t really even want to try. But Rafe wiggles in under her defenses.

Rafe is getting ready to retire from Hollywood. He’s made a good living as a photographer over the last decade, but he’s tired of all the drama and phony people. He’s ready to settle down with a good woman and start a family. As long as that woman has nothing to do with Hollywood. Too bad, since Emma Willis seems just about perfect..if only she wasn’t a Hollywood writer – and emotionally closed off.

While I understood Emma’s reasons for pushing Rafe away to a degree, I couldn’t help but feel she went a little overboard. She made up for it in the end, however, so I was able to forgive her. Though I do think Rafe could have made her sweat a little more.

The storyline isn’t anything new, but it worked because the characters were well balanced and the writing flowed so well.
