Tracy’s review of Savor the Moment (Bride Quartet #3) by Nora Roberts

Wedding baker Laurel McBane is surrounded by romance working at Vows wedding planning company with her best friends Parker, Emma, and Mac. But she’s too low-key to appreciate all the luxuries that their clients seem to long for. What she does appreciate is a strong, intelligent man, a man just like Parker’s older brother Delaney, on whom she’s had mega-crush since childhood.

But some infatuations last longer than others, and Laurel is convinced that the Ivy League lawyer is still out of her reach. Plus, Del is too protective of Laurel to ever cross the line with her, or so she thinks. When Laurel’s quicksilver moods get the better of her—leading to an angry, hot, all-together mind-blowing kiss with Del—she’ll have to quiet the doubts in her mind to turn a moment of passion into forever…

Laurel grew up with her best friends and along with one of her best friends came a brother. Parker’s brother Del has always been around and Laurel went from crushing on him earlier in life to falling in love with him as she got older. But Del doesn’t look at Laurel in “that” way. He sees her as one of his “girls”. Well that just infuriated Laurel to no end and in a fit of anger she decided to show Del that she shouldn’t be lumped in with the rest! She lays a hot, hungry kiss on him and then storms off. Del is shocked but it makes him see that maybe there’s something more in Laurel that maybe he might’ve missed. After a time they decide to start dating and see what happens. But Laurel is just sure that Del doesn’t see her as anything other than a temporary girl – is Laurel right?

I have to tell you that when I started reading this book I was bored. That’s right, bored. For about the first 75 pages I kept wanting to put the book down. I also was completely disgusted with Laurel and her bitchiness wanted to tell Del to run! Run as far and as fast as you can from the evilness that is Laurel! Ok, maybe I over-reacted just a bit. J As it turned out the story got much better for me after that and I actually started to like Laurel, a little.

I thought Del and Laurel were very cute together and their relationship was romantic enough for me in the end that I was satisfied with the outcome of the book. I was still disgusted with Laurel and the way she reacted to some things with Del but overall it was a good story.

This book also brought into play a little bit more of Malcolm and if you’ve read the first 2 books you’ve already figured out that the chance of Parker being paired with Mal is about 99.9%. I think that Parker and Mal will definitely be good together and be a very good story.

Rating: 3.75 out of 5

  1. Funny, I just posted my review on this one just yesterday and I was similiarly let down. It just did nothing for me. Hoping that the next one will close out the series on a high note.

  2. Oh, I liked Laurel’s crabbiness LOL. I really liked this one, more than Bed of Roses… funny how we all react differently to books ;D

  3. Strlady – I’m with you – I’m hoping that book 4 will be great. With Parker’s analness and Malcolm’s more relaxed attitude it should be good.

Kris – Yep – Good, but not great.

Nath – Really? Not that we got “into” Laurel’s head in the previous books but she seemed like such a shrew compared to books 1 & 2.

Jennifer – Yep – and Del was so nice! lol Ah well – at least Del loved her – that’s what was important. 🙂

  4. Kim – I’m enjoying the series too. I guess I wasn’t too surprised about Del accepting things with Laurel so easily – even with his feeling about Jack and Emma – because it’s so much easier to pass judgment on someone else’s relationship than your own. To me, in this situation, Del was just being a guy so that didn’t bother me to much.

Yes – the women do act like teenagers a lot of the time but they’ve been doing it so long I don’t think they know a different way! lol
