That’s right I’m over on DIK, um, I mean at DIK…yeah, that’s what I meant. Anyway I’m DIKing my time away over there talking about turning books into movies. Come on over and say hi!
I’m at DIK Talking About Turning Books Into Movies

I much prefer movies that come from books. Original screen plays have often been so abreviated that they barely do more than introduce the characters, get into the plot, and then must come up with a conclusion that will fit the entire film into 90 minutes or less. Steven Spielberg once commented that by making movies from books, the characters are already developed, the plot is well thought out, and the conclusion makes sense. Much easier to delete pages of story that neither add to or detract from the basic story. Far more difficult to write a story from scratch and get it all into the time usually given to a commercial enterprise. The movies that have stood the test of time, that keep re-appearing in remakes and such have all come from books.
