Whose wife was she?
Macy Lockhart’s life shattered in a moment with the news that her husband, Finn — serving in the military overseas — has been killed in the line of duty. Their ardent and devoted marriage is over, leaving Macy alone, empty, directionless. But while she tries to sustain herself with memories of Finn, the quiet, strong man who made her and their small Texas ranch the center of his life, it is wealthy Wyatt Clark who slowly brings joy back into her life. Her love for Wyatt may be less romantic than the breathless passion she’d once shared with Finn, but she vows to cherish him, and their marriage is happy and as solid as a rock. Until the day that Finn, miraculously spared from death, returns home to claim his bride….
Julia London has written contemporaries in the past, but nothing with this level of emotion. In my experience, there are very few authors that successfully go from historical to contemporary. If you want to win a copy of Summer of Two Wishes, answer me this…
Which authors do you think write historicals and well as contemporary (or vise-versa)?
This book is available from Pocket Star. You can buy it here.
The authors that come to mind that write historicals and contemporaries well, IMHO, are Catherine Coulter, Christina Dodd, Susan Johnson, and Sylvia Day.
Beside Julia London ???… I’d say Lisa Kleypas (I did love Blue eyed devil) and SEP. I know she wrote only one historical but it was great, I really loved it… I wish she could write another one…
Count me in this great conteste, pleaaaaase 😉
Well, back in the day I loved Elizabeth Lowell historicals (the medieval trilogy is still one of my favorites–and don’t get me started on the Only books ) Then I read her contemporary romantic suspense and liked it–a lot.
However, I haven’t read her new stuff in the past few years–after the last Donovan/Risk Ltd.
(and I try very hard not to even think of her rewrites of old categories grrrrrrrrrrr)
Lisa Kleypas comes to my mind too and a more “recently” emerged author for me Victoria Dahl.
Oh and Suzanne Enoch…
Ooh, good question! The first ones who comes to mind is Lisa Kleypas and Julie Garwood.
Another vote for Lisa Kleypas from me!
Lisa Kleypas! Sandra Hill! Victoria Dahl! Suzanne Enoch!
I would definitely say Elizabeth Lowell !

Sylvia Day is one that is cming to my mind. Emma Holly to…sort of, if you count her vampire series as historical. Maybe kind of a stretch.
Thanks!

I think I’ve read both genres only from Lisa Kleypas. So she is my pick!

Lisa Kleypas and Judith McNaught, both have wonderful books!
Like a lot of people have already said, I also enjoy Lisa Kleypas’ books. Another author I love is Jayne Ann Krentz/Amanda Quick.
Lisa Kleypas and JAK/ Amanda Quick. And Nora Roberts has successfully done that in the same series – The MacGregors
Julie Garwood is a good one for both historical and comtemporary.
Joanne from NY
The authors that come to mind for me are Elizabeth Lowell, Julie Garwood, and Jayne Ann Krentz/Amanda Quick.
Right now I am enjoying Illuminations of the Heart by Joyce DiPastena and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Christina Dodd and Judith McNaught are both excellent in contemporary and historical fiction.
I think Christina Dodd is good at both as well as Nora Roberts
