What I’ve Been Reading This Week

Well it was a very busy week and the 3 day weekend was almost just as busy – just in another way. My husband and I decided that we were going to do all those little things that you tend to put off…at least we do. You know, little things like cleaning out the garage. Yeah, little. Not! But it spurred us into doing other things around the house that needed attention. In the middle of it all we got the armoire that I had bought for my daughters room so we put that together. All in all a very busy weekend but very productive. I can hardly move now! lol

This will probably be another busy week as my boss is leaving for a 5 week sabbatical on Friday and she’s bound to be a little nutty about getting everything in order – I certainly don’t blame her. Well, I won’t now but maybe by Friday. lol

Alright onto my reading:

My first book was Immortal Danger by Cynthia Eden. Review a couple of posts back. Good book.

Then there was The White Knight by Josh Lanyon that I won on Lisabea’s blog a couple of weeks ago. More on this book on Wednesday.

Next up was Smooth Talking Stranger by Lisa Kleypas which I adored. Were there things that I would have changed in the book? Sure, but none of them were enough to effect the overall enjoyment of the book. I closed the book and then immediately started reading again…I don’t do that very often and when I do I know it’s a keeper.

My choice for Tracy’s TBR Challenge (as I’ve come to call it) was Satisfaction Guaranteed by Lucy Monroe. If any of you read Ready, Willing, And Able you’d recognize the hero of this book, Ethan, as being a “friend” of Hotwire’s. Ethan is an agent in a secret government organization. Beth works for the same organization but not as an agent. She’s got the hots for Ethan and has for 2 years but just lives with her fantasies because she refuses to date an agent after almost marrying one and being stood up at that altar. Ethan and Beth are eventually thrown together on an assignment and sparks fly. This was a cute read and I have it on good authority (Katiebabs) that The Real Deal is one I should read as well. I think that’s in my TBR too so I’ll be reading it soon.

I read Love With A Perfect Scoundrel by Sophia Nash for The Book Binge so I’ll let you all know when the review is posted.

Last but not least I read yet another short by Amber Kell. This one, Hellbourne: Lost and Found, is book 1 in a new series. I really liked the main character of this story, Luc, who had just been jilted by his alpha werewolf lover so that said lover could marry a female and reproduce. Luc is devestated and ends up in a bar to drown his sorrows in alcohol. He meets Nikkolai and decides to drown his sorrows in other ways as well. But things aren’t always what they seem. Luc has some of his own secrets and now his werewolf wants him back. Whatever will happen? The book ended and left me hungry for more info. Luc was wonderful – he was a great mix of good guy, bad boy, heartbroken soul and snarky bitch…I want to read more.

Have a great week and Happy Reading!

  1. I always look forward to seeing which books you’ve inhaled…er… read over the week.

    Yay Tracy!

And good luck with the sabbatical thing. Phewie.

  2. I really must get around to trying some of those Amber Kell books. I’m holding off buying any new stuff at the moment though, until I can get my tbr pile back under some control!

  3. I’m loving the Sophia Nash cover. So beautiful. Smooth Talking Stranger–I’m so happy you loved it!! Hope you had a great holiday, Tracy.

  4. Ooh, that Amber Kell book sounds good.

Glad you had a productive weekend. I need to get me one of those someday! My house would thank me for it, I’m sure.

Looking forward to reading your White Knight review!

  5. Lb – Inhaled. Huh. I actually kinda like that! lol
I think I’ll survive the sabbatical thing – I’ve got a great Bishop’s warden so no worries. 🙂

Jenre – I understand. I keep trying to tell myself to stop buying but alas it never works. Luckily there’s not TOO many book out this month that I’m dying for – I’ll be able to make a dent in my TBR.

Barbara – the cover is pretty nice. I think you’ll like the book.

Renee – it was pretty good for a short story. Fast read but pretty good.
Our house thanked us, yes. It gave a great sigh when we cleared a bunch of stuff out of the garage. There’s still more but I’ll need to rent a truck to take it to the dump. Arg. lol

  6. great reading list, Tracy :)Like I said, I’m intrigued about the Cynthia Eden book… I do think I will get it eventually. I want to try the Lisa Kleypas, although I haven’t read any of her contemporary yet… although, I’m too cheap to drop the money for HC format.

  7. Nath – if you’re thinking of reading the Kleypas I would look into ordering them from the library which is what I did with the first two. I don’t think that you HAVE to read the first two first but it does give you more background into the family and of course Jack.

  8. So glad you adored STS. I did the same thing and reread the parts that I enjoyed right after I finished the book. It had it’s flaws but it was a good book.

  9. Yeah, I might do it… Although the library doesn’t have Sugar Daddy… Actually, the library only has 3 Lisa Kleyas: A wallflower Christmas, Blue-Eyed Devil and Mine Till Midnight. *shakes head*

  10. Brie – Glad I’m not the only one who went back and read. 🙂 I know Kati said that she’s read it 6 times…well, that was the last time I checked. 🙂

Nath – that sucks! Well at least SD is in MM pb now, not so expensive as HC.

  11. Totally need the Kleypas. And I want to read the Lanyon, too. I’m pretty sure I have the Lucy Monroe floating around here somewhere, but hell if I know where it is. Sigh. I so need to get organized, and maybe even start reviewing again. I miss it. Blogging blues suck.

Sounds like this last week was really busy for you!

  12. Kris – CO- President? Does that mean I’m the Prez? Very cool. I’ll make my inaugural speech soon! lol

Lori – they were all good! lol Hope you find it before you go. 🙂
