All About Mom…Yeah, That’s Me

So I stole this from Rosie because I thought it was so very cool. The questions that she asked her 18 year old son about herself were so fun and his answers were a crack up. It showed what a great, quick-witted sense of humor he has – just like his mom.

So I decided that I was going to ask my 2 rugrat daughters the same questions – separately of course and here’s what they came out with.

I’ve separated their answers so that you can see what the 11 year old said and what the 6 year old said.

1. What is something your mom always says to you?
11 – Put your shoes away (hey, maybe she’s actually listening!)
6– Go to sleep
( I have to tell you that when my 6 year old was in preschool the teacher asked the kids a few questions like this for the 3 years olds mothers day tea. I’m friends with her teacher and at the time she had to run down to my office to tell me that when she asked my daughter what my favorite thing to say was she said “shit”. Omg how wonderful/mortifying is that? lol It was all the teacher could do not to bust out laughing and just ask for something else mommy might say!)

2. What makes your mom happy?
11 – When I do what she tells me to do
6 – If I pass my timed (math) tests

3. What makes your mom sad?
11 – When we get hurt
6 – I really don’t know

4. How does your mom make you laugh?
11 – When she tells us jokes.
6 – When she pretends to laugh (apparently I have a sarcastic fake laugh that she loves – who knew?)

5. What was your mom like as a child?
11 – A sweet, caring little girl (she’s obviously trying for brownie points! Lol)
6 – She liked to read books

6. How old is your mom?
11 – 43
6 – 43

7. How tall is your mom?
11 – 4 feet (dayum)
6 – 3 feet (double dayum…I’m actually 5’5”)

8. What is her favorite thing to do?
11 – Read
6 – Read

9. What does your mom do when you’re not around?
11 – Read
6 – Go on the computer
(I think they’ve figured me out)

10. If your mom becomes famous, what will it be for?
11 – Reading (she’s totally laughing at this point – the little stinker)
6 – You’d be famous cuz you’re really good at reading
(awww)

11. What is your mom really good at?
11 –Reading
6 – Reading
(I’m sensing a theme – unfortunately I have no life other than work and family so there you go! lol)

12. What is your mom not very good at?
11 – Math (ain’t that the truth)
6 – Homework (hey! I help with everything – just not the math!)

13. What does your mom do for her job?
11 – She files papers and answers the phones – she’s a secretary
6 – She works at a church
(both true)

14. What is your mom’s favorite food?
11 – Low Carb Chicken Club Sandwich from Carl’s Jr.
6 – Chicken
(While I love both of those it’s my long deceased grandmothers depression era inspired spaghetti recipe that makes my heart go pitter pat. Thank heavens I inherited the recipe)

15. What makes you proud of your mom?
11 – That she’s always there for me
6 – (At this point she stopped the questions and said…Her: Wait, is this all about you? Me: Yes, I told you that. Her: Wow.) That you buy me cool videos (awww to be 6 again)

16. If your mom were a cartoon character, who would she be?
11 – Wonder Woman (Right on!)
6- Snoopy cuz he dances funny (uh, I do not)

17.What do you and your mom do together?
11 – Shop
6 – We hug together

18. How are you and your mom the same?
11 – She loves me and I love her
6 – We both like to laugh

19. How are you and your mom different?
11 – She has bigger boobies than I do – guffaw, guffaw. (and thank God! Lol)
6 – She has brown eyes and red hair and I don’t

20. How do you know your mom loves you?
11 – She kisses and hugs me
6 – Because she always kisses me
(love them kisses!)

21. Where is your mom’s favorite place to go?
11 – The library
6 – Knott’s Berry Farm (I think she was channeling her favorite place at this point)
(after the questions were done I just looked at them and said: Hello! The bookstore! They just hit their heads in an “Oh, yeah” moment)

Anyway that’s the scoop from my wee ones. Well, 1 wee one and one that’s not so wee any longer – oy.

  1. The very best part is hearing your kids know, really really know, that you love them. That’s it for a Mom, isn’t it? They know we love ’em.

I love this exercise. I do. I’m loving reading everybody’s too.

  2. Aw, Tracy, this is so cute. How lovely to know that you are loved and appreciated by your kids.

And you have the same job as me! Church secretaries of the world unite!

  3. Aaahhhh – I loved seeing Rosie’s Schmoo’s answers and your girls answers are just adorable. I love that they have picked up on your reading habits 🙂

  4. ok, now that’s way WAY too cute. lol. you all need to stop posting these things, you are giving me child envy. I still have to make it to a september wedding before making those kinds of plans. lol!

  5. “Shit”

hahhHHHahahah. So funny, Tracy. =) Gotta love when they do things like that.

I think I’ll try this with LittleGirl. Who knows what she’ll say!

  6. Rosie – I know. I actually expected one of them to say they know I love them because I tell them every day. It’s interesting that neither mentioned that but that they equated love with the hugs and the kisses. Makes me all gushy. 🙂

Jenre – Another church secretary! Where are you located?

Amy – I’d love to hear his answers!

    Kristie – Weren’t Schmoo’s great?
I don’t think they could help picking up on my habits.:) And I think my little one’s inherited them which is very cool.

Sula – Oh it will happen for you soon and you’ll be changing diapers with the best of em. 🙂

    KB – Strange, I know.

    Sarai – thanks.

Lb – That was so funny. I didn’t even think I said it that much back then but obviously my observant 3 year old had picked up on that one “bad” word. LOL
I’d love to hear lg’s answers!

  7. And I’m sure your husband is happy that you have big boobies than an 11-year-old LOL. Although this is So. Cal., so you never know…..

  8. That totally made me smile! Kids really do observe us more that we realize, don’t they?

I’ve got the questions ready for my kid. I just haven’t been able to get him to sit still long enough to answer them. Hopefully over the weekend!

  9. CJ – we had just gone there so she was focused on Snoopy and Knott’s. She’s so funny.

Wendy – why yes, yes he it! *snort*

Renee – it’s hard to pin them down long enough to answer, isn’t it? lol

  10. OK, my LOL moment?
    19. How are you and your mom different?
11 – She has bigger boobies than I do – guffaw, guffaw.

    LMAO!!!

Your girls are either more perceptive than my boys or just much less smart-assy. I’m guessing both.

  11. LOL, so cute!

I’m really enjoying this meme 🙂 Makes me want to have kids LOL 🙂

LOL, I guess you’re known to be reading 🙂 What a surprise!

and so cute that they’re trying to get brownie points 😉

Boobies ^_^; Ah well, chances are hers will get bigger 🙂

  12. Amy – I loved Devon’s answers! 🙂

Shannon – I know – the bigger boobie comment had me rolling my eyes but she thought it was the funniest thing evah! lol
We hug together has to be my favorite!

Nath – Awww – you want to have kids now? my work here is done. lol
