I finished reading this book last night. Ok, it was 1:00 am so…I finished this book this morning. I’m not gonna do the whole review thing because I think that’s been taken care of in so many different ways.
One of my friends told me in advance (yes, she asked me if I wanted to know before she told me! :))who was gonna end up with whom and I have to say I was a little shocked. I kept repeating the names almost saying…WTF??? But the more I thought about it I decided that since I love Brockmann’s series so much I was willing to be open minded about the outcomes. I think I’m in the minority according to some reviews I’ve read. Holy Mac!
I have to say, I really liked it. Were there some unexpected happenings? Sure. Did I like the character pairings? Well, not at first, actually not even until about ¾ of the way through the story. But when I closed the cover on this one it gave me that warm fuzzy feeling I get when I read a really good book. It was definitely hard for me to get to sleep last night just thinking about it. Brockmann writes such incredibe stories and I adore the way she writes…it’s like a friend is telling me a story over a cup of coffee and that’s so refreshing! So many things happened with so many different couples that in the end it was just…satisfying. Let’s face it folks, I’m a sucker for that happily ever after. I completely felt that the couples that ended up together were perfect for each other. Were they who I would have chosen for them? No, but I’m not the author and she did choose them to be together and for damn good reasons, too, which I totally got.
I also thoroughly enjoyed Sam Starrett’s role in this story where it pertains the Nash. He was just a breath of freakin fresh air. As funny as it might seem to get relationship info from Sam…it worked for me.
Anyway…I loved it and this series will continue to be an auto-buy.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5
I really want to read her books but there are so many out already! One of these days I just need to get the first one and start from there.
Amy I thought the exact same thing but then just took the plunge…ordering one after another from the library. IMO the first one is really good…the second is good, but not as good…and then the 3rd is OMG, lol But again, those are my thoughts. 🙂
I know when I was writing my review for this book that I was at a total loss on how to do it without giving everything away. I LOVED this book. I hated Into The Fired (well, hate is too big a word, but it wasn’t my favorite). I wasn’t too sure of the pairings either, but think they turned out perfect for the characters, esp. Decker. He was just WAY too uptight and needed someone who was lighter. It totally worked for me. 🙂
I must read this series!! Thanks for not giving things away with this review, Tracy! My question was Amy’s, so I think I will follow your advice, too!
BL – I really haven’t disliked any in this series. As I told Amy, the second one wasn’t as good as the first…but I got so involved in the characters lives that I needed to keep reading the books to see what happened. lol
CJ – it wasn’t easy…but I wanted to get it out there without doing a formal review…and giving info away. 🙂
I know exactly where you’re coming from. And I was bad, because I totally spilled the beans. But I just had so many thoughts about DoN that I couldn’t express them properly w/o talking about who ends up with who.
So glad you liked it Tracy 🙂
I love this series, it is one of my favorites. This was a great book!! great addition to the series.
if you have not started the series, what are you waiting for!? 🙂 Just start them and you will get hooked.
Hiya Tracy! You know I am a HUGE Brockmann junkie I think my problem with this book is how loooooong it took to resolve this storyline and honestly I lost interest. I am sure she did a great job of making you see things her way but on the other hand I do understand where the Decker/Sophia fans are coming from. No one likes their strings pulled. I have this in my TBR pile I will get to it eventually so glad you liked it!
