Molly Jennings might look like the girl next door, but she has one naughty little secret: her job. Molly is a very successful writer of erotic fiction. Until her inspiration runs dry—thanks to a creepy ex—and she decides it’s time to move back home to tiny Tumble Creek, Colorado.
Tumble Creek doesn’t have much going for it, but one look at luscious chief of police Ben Lawson, who starred in her girlhood dreams, and Molly is back in business. But while her fantasies are pouring out on paper, the town gossip is buzzing at her door and, worse yet, a stalker seems to be watching her every move. Thankfully, her very own lawman has taken to coming over, often. The only problem now is that Molly may have to let the cat out of the bag about her chosen profession, and straight-laced Ben will definitely not approve… Molly, an erotic romance writer, moves back to Tumble Creek to get inspiration after her manipulative ex-boyfriend starts stalking her in Denver. She immediately starts writing after seeing Ben Lawson, her brothers best friend and now police chief. Ben does not date women in Tumble Creek. It’s too complicated and after his dad caused a huge scandal during his high school years he stays as far away from the town gossip as possible. Of course he didn’t plan on Molly moving back to town. And it seems the town gossip loves Ben and Molly and the excitement they cause. Molly and Ben pretty much get together right away and it’s something they’ve both wanted for a long damned time. But Molly just wants a fling and some inspiration. The problem is that they both get in deeper than they want. Then Molly starts having some home invasion problems and threats and things heat up between them emotionally. The real issue is that Molly hides what she does for a living. Not just from Ben but from everyone. Not even her family knows what she does and she’s just fine with that. Ben, however, is going a tad nutty trying to figure out what it is that could be so bad that she’s hiding it. He doesn’t deal with secrecy well at all. This was just such a fun and entertaining read. It was funny, sexy, romantic and just an all around great book. I won’t tell you what happens with Molly’s “stalker” or how things turn out with Ben and Molly – that would just ruin things for you! Lol But if you’re looking for a good contemporary, look no further. Rating: 4.5 out of 5
Oh I can’t wait to read this! I just got it! woohoo!
also, thank you for your lovely comment yesterday at the new blog.
: D
I’m glad you liked this one, Tracy. It didn’t work as well for me, but I’d bet that I’m in the minority.
I do think that Dahl writes some smokin’ hawt sex.
I have this one too and I can’t wait to read it. Excellent review. 🙂
This is the kind of book that I really like. Sounds just yummy!
Ana – Hope you like it! You're more than welcome – you guys are fantastic!
Kati – This is the first I've read of her work…I'll have to look into more of it. Have you liked her other stuff?
Holly & Lori – Thanks!
Tracy – It’s the first I’ve read too. I think prior to this, she wrote historicals.
mmm – I’ll have to check out her site. Thanks.
This is going on my TBR pile. 😀
As always, I am for the hawt sex. Bug surprise, right?
Man, I’m trying to be so good! This is about the 3rd or 4th good review of this book. Guess it’s back to the store for me.
I’ve read lots of good reviews on this one, too. Though who said they didn’t like how she kept it a secret? Oh, Kati!
Katie and Rosie – I think you’ll like it.
CJ – I understand Kati not liking how she kept the secret, but I understand the heroine’s reasoning. It wasn’t that she was ashamed of writing the erotic romances it was something else entirely.
I just picked up this book today. I’ve read alot of mixed reviews but it sounds like a good read. I’m happy to hear you liked it 🙂
Great review! I think I’d really like this one. The tone of the story reminds me a bit of Kristan Higgins, but with more steam! Thanks for the recommendation.
Barbara – it has gotten mixed reviews but I liked it. I think that the things that bugged me about it didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the book.
Christine – you’re welcome! Always happy to pimp new books. 🙂
