Hero: Nick Romeo
Heroine: Rosalie Ronaldi
Grade: 4.5 out of 5
Rosalie Ronaldi doesn’t have a domestic bone in her body…
All she cares about is her career, so she survives on take-out and dirty martinis, keeps her shoes under the dining room table, her bras on the shower curtain rod, and her clothes on the couch…
Nick Romeo is every woman’s fantasy- tall, dark, handsome, rich, really good in bed, AND he loves to cook and clean…
He says he wants an independent woman, but when he meets Rosalie, all he wants to do is take care of her. Before too long, he’s cleaned up her apartment, stocked her refrigerator, and adopted her dog…
So what’s the problem? Just a little matter of mistaken identity, corporate theft, a hidden past in juvenile detention and one big nosy Italian family too close for comfort…
Ugh, I had to type out the full synopsis from the back of the book because I couldn’t find one online, dangit!
Oh well, on with my review.
Everyone has read this book and really enjoyed it so I expected to enjoy it as well and while I did enjoy the book, Rosalie got on my hot damn nerves a whole lot of the time. All of the, I’m an independent woman crap got on my nerves a bit and all of her bitching and moaning to Nick was a little aggravating but I got over all of that because as the story wore on and Nick got more and more dreamy, Rosalie turned out to be a better heroine than I thought.
I must say though, that Nick Romeo made this book for me. He was such a hunk, a hunk of burning love that I wanted all to myself. He’s this guy from the block who is now rich. He’s got a chain of car shops and he’s got all of this money and yet he still loves being in the garage, getting his hands dirty or driving the tow truck home when he needs a car. He’s one of those guys that’s just really down to earth and the more we read about him, the more we love him.
But he’s not perfect, he’s got his own set of problems that drove me bat shit crazy some of the time, misunderstandings that could have been dealt with differently and even though those things drove me up the wall, it didn’t take too much away from my enjoyment of this book. It was still a great book and like Holly said in her review, the characters were real. I connected with them, I understood what they were about and even though Rosalie drove me crazy some of the time, I didn’t hate her. I got mad at her the same way that I get mad at my friends and it was cool to connect with characters in a book that way.
This book was good, I enjoyed everything from Nick’s family to Rosalie’s family but really, I enjoyed the relationship between Nick and Lee. I loved that he had a nickname for her and I loved that he took care of her, the way he just swooped right in and took care of her without asking for permission or anything and I loved the way these two fell in love with each other. Everything worked out the way it was supposed to and I enjoyed the bumpy ride.
I would really recommend this book to those of you guys out there who wants to read something that will make laugh, make you sigh and make you want to find Nick Romeo and steal his vacuum. HA!
