Chapel of the Roses
Pasadena, CA
Yep, it’s true. 15 years ago today my hubby and I were married. It was a beautiful southern California day. (It was a good thing I had that long sleeved dress on for the November weather cuz it was about 75 degrees that day.)
We got married at a wedding chapel in Pasadena, where we lived at the time. My husband was raised Catholic and I was Presbyterian and since my mother was doing the ceremony (she’s a Presbyterian minister) he didn’t want to offend anyone by getting married in a Presbyterian church. So off to the chapel we went. It was a beautiful ceremony – not a dry eye in the house. Ok, maybe there was one or two
OMG look at my hubby. He was sooooooooooooooooooooo stinking young! Dear heavens what was I thinking marrying a younger man? Oh yeah, that’s what I was thinking! winkwink (He was 24, I was 28) He cleaned up pretty well.
Yes, my headpiece was friggin huge! A friend of mine made it…trying to copy it from a picture in a bridal magazine. If I remember correctly it was supposed to be about a 75% less in size than it was but I felt bad about cutting it and hurting her feelings so I left it alone. Silly Tracy. (It was a good thing it was the early 90’s and BIG was in.) 😉 Every time I turned my head I think I whapped my hubby in the face.
The reception was hilarious (I’ll spare you the pictures). Among other things the DJ got drunk and started playing songs like You Can’t Hide Those Lying Eyes and Breaking Up Is Hard To Do. Only us, I swear! lol
Then it was off to Jamaica for our Honeymoon. We went to one of those all inclusive clubs where you pay one price and then you don’t have to pay for anything else while you’re there – not even a tip. It was fab. We met some great people who we’re still friends with and have some wonderful memories of horseback riding, drunken lingerie-wearing karaoke, lounging by the pool and toga parties.
(And yes, I’m embarrassed to say, that is a polo shirt with shoulder pads that I’m wearing. What? They were in.)
It’s been a great 15 years! Here’s to another wonderful 15 or…40!
And wove, twue wove, wiww fowwow you fowevah–
Hugs and Congratulations!! Woohoo! 15 years. You looked beautiful, Tracy!
Shoulder pads…I hated those!! I used to cut them out. Thank goodness they finally phased out.
Oh this is a wonderful day to be celebrating! Great pictures – thank you for sharing such a happy day with us 🙂
Congwatuwations!
I had to laugh at your headpiece. I was in 15 weddings in 18 months right after I graduated from college (1994) and I saw more than one that looked like yours. It was quite the style then. I had a friend who had that veil, but it also came down to a little point in the middle of her forehead with a tiny pearl that hung from it. It was — really quite something!
But congrats on your big day! I hope y’all are doing something wonderful to celebrate.
Awwww, happy Anniversary! enjoy your day 🙂
