About Us: Lyrical Press

Running a publishing house, no matter how small, requires a mountain of work, skill and determination. We knew this getting into it, did our research, gathered as much knowledge as we were able to get our hands on (we learn something new every day!) and hired Emma Wayne Porter as our Editor-In-Chief. If the publisher(s) are the foundation of a company, the EIC is its backbone. We could not have done better than Emma. Her respect for authors, organization and knowledge is unsurpassed. Not to mention, she edits like no one’s business!

When we were faced with the same skepticism almost every new house encounters, we took it all in stride, kept our heads down and simply forged forward. We knew better than to run before we could crawl. Instead, we took things slow and steady. At LPI’s debut in early December of last year, we had less than five authors. To date, we’re proud to say we have over fifty talented authors. Some are multi-published. Others are new to this business. All have added something incredible to our house. Their voices have helped our company exceed any expectations we might have had.

Now that we’ve reached the toddler stage, we’re ready to take longer strides and advance the company. In fact, we’ve recently signed with Sony to have our titles listed on their eBook store. We have print ads coming out in the December issues of Romantic Times and TAPS magazines in celebration of our first year in business.

At this time last year, LPI was only a dream. I was still debating whether or not I should give up writing as a profession. I knew I wanted to open LPI with my husband, but I had a paralyzing fear of failure. Together, we took a huge step…and it was one I’d do all over again to be where we are today. What a difference a year has made.

LPI’s main focus is paranormal Erotica and Romance. We are, however, actively seeking almost all forms of fiction. Please, no poetry or young adult. For submission guidelines, please visit http://www.lyricalpress.com/submissions.html.

LPI is a commercial fiction publisher, and as such, our goal is to entertain and satisfy our consumers. Please keep that guiding principle in mind while considering Lyrical Press as a potential home for your work.

We are also expanding our editing department. If you are interested in editing for Lyrical Press, please contact Stephanie McGrath at employment@lyricalpress.com for details.

  1. Hi Kris, we’re so glad you’ve enjoyed our books!

Hi Heather, we look forward to your submission. 🙂

Book Binge, thank you ladies, for allowing Lyrical to guest blog. Much love to each of you…but a little less to Holly, who, is a big snot. lol

  2. Lyrical Press, LPI, what a wonderful breath of fresh air for the book business. While others are whining and sniveling and cutting back, LPI takes a bold step forward. I feel privileged to have my adult/crime novel, GIMME, considered by Emma for publication and look forward to joining her fifty proud authors as LPI takes its place alongside history’s greatest book publishers.
Let me also say that if the way Emma has treated my submission, with quick and considerate response, is any indication of the way she publishes books, she is the new star in this business.
