She’s given up on him and moved on…

Susannah finally has a peaceful, calm life and a no-surprises man. Marriage to football superstar Ryan Sanderson was a whirlwind of passion, heat, energy, and excitement, but Susannah got sick of playing second fiddle to his team, watching women throwing themselves at him, and living in terror of the hard hits he took on the field. With their divorce just days from being final, she’s already planning a wedding with her new fiance…

He’s finally figured out what’s really important to him. If only it’s not too late…

Ryan has just ten days to convince his soon-to-be ex-wife to give him a second chance. He has just brought home his third championship and his career is at its pinnacle, but during the year of their separation, Ryan’s come to realize it doesn’t mean anything at all without Susannah…

After reading the blurb, I was really interested in reading this book. Even though I’m not a football fan, it sounded really cute. I read a review of it and it was described as “an overly long category romance”, which I think fits perfectly. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, depending on your expectations when you start reading.

Quarterback Ryan Sanderson only has ten days to convince his wife that they are made for each other. Ten days to make her realize that he can be the man she needs. He only runs into a few problems. Susannah is engaged to be married and she wants nothing to do with his plans to reconcile. Desperate times call for desperate measures and Ryan isn’t above resorting to blackmail. He’s so certain that Susannah will see that going through the divorce is a mistake that he’s willing to risk everything.

Susannah is about to get what she has wanted for years: peace and tranquility. In ten short days she will get what she so desperately wants and shortly after that she will be married to her childhood friend, Henry. When Ryan shows up demanding ten days of her undivided attention, Susannah is reluctant. She knows exactly what could happen and she doesn’t want to risk falling back into old habits. She can’t refuse, however, especially when Ryan threatens to put a stop to the divorce.

It only takes a few short days for Susannah admit that she’s never gotten over Ryan. Even though she still loves him, she’s hesitant to accept the changes she sees. Though he seems ready to put their marriage before his football career, experience tells Susannah that doing so is easier said than done. Still, she can’t resist what Ryan is offering, which is a lifetime with the man she loves.

Ryan was a fantastic hero. I loved him. If I didn’t already have a husband, I would want a husband like Ryan. He was a man that could admit to past mistakes. A man that wasn’t afraid to play dirty to get the woman that he loves. Only a man would wait until only ten days remain when he’s had a whole year to reconcile. That was okay though and the reason for that is believable.

I didn’t like Susannah as much. She was wishy-washy. After everything they had gone through, I found her doubt in Ryan justified. Yet her struggle to accept Ryan and flopping back and forth got annoying. Is he changed? Is he the same? Should she trust him or will she get hurt again? Like I said, her reluctance was understandable, but it went a bit too far. They were both at fault for their failed marriage, but it was Ryan that did all the groveling. I just felt like Susannah didn’t take responsibility to her part in their problems.

Other than my problem(s) w/ Susannah, I enjoyed the book. It’s a fast paced, cute love story. Just what I was looking for when I picked up the book.

4 out of 5.

  1. I loove football, and I love it when the man grovels. I’m buying it.
