My little one’s b-day dinner

My youngest daughter’s birthday was Tuesday, July 8. She turned 6! I can’t believe it! I didn’t get any older so I know she couldn’t have. (Yeah, right)

Anyway, just wanted to share a few pictures from her b-day dinner. She’s having 2 friends over on Saturday for a make-up/hair party and a sleep over.

Pre-party messing around

At the mexican restaurant that she chose for her dinner. It was either this or Chuck E. Cheese. Thank heavens she chose wisely. It might have had something to do the look on my face when she mentioned CEC’s, IDK.

Opening presents from Grandma and Grandpa.

My oldest daughter who I caught with a chip in her mouth. Photographer extrordinaire I am not.

My dad. Isn’t he cute?!! My mom was there too but wasn’t feeling too hot and refused to let me take a picture.

This was after she’s opened her Hello Kitty mp3 player that she’s been asking for for at least a year. Can someone explain to me how a 5/6 year old even knows what an mp3 player is? lol

When they came to sing Happy Birthday to her they put a huge sombrero on her head and shoved whipped cream from her fried ice cream in her mouth. Of course the hat was so big my hubby and mom needed to hold it up so we could see her!

And last but not least my ever sarcastic 6 year old showed us visually what she thought about the hat! 🙂 I’m pretty sure she inherited the eye roll thing from me.

It was a fun evening!!!

  1. Sooooo cute. Oh I love the mexican rest. birthday sombrero. I have a few of those pictures! And the Japanese Hibachi rest. birthday pictures…

I always read my kids the Now We Are Six poem on their 6th birthdays.

“But now I am six, I’m as clever as clever, so I think I’ll be 6 now for ever and ever.”

  2. Very sweet pictures, Tracy.

I love the pink sombrero!!! So perfect for a 6 y.o….. I think she was just pretending to think it wasn’t cool.

    Thanks for sharing.

p.s. Sweet poem, LB. I never heard that one.

  3. LB – yes we’ve done the Japanese thing for adult b-days and they try to put that plastic geisha hair on me every time! No thanks! lol I’ve never heard the Now We Are Six poem – very cool. Thanks for sharing.

Christine – yes, in truth she loved the somebrero and hasn’t stopped talking about it for the past 2 days. 🙂

Sarai – I’ll see what I can do about getting you a matching sombrero. Either that or a nice lamp shade.

  4. Ohhh, what great pics! As I wrote you over on the boards, I will be doing the same here in a little over a month with my own “soon to be” 6 year old.

OMG, I just got to this point in my reply and noticed lisabea’s avi is Batman and Robin kissing….what to say…

    Thanks for sharing your family!

  5. Drea – I know…it’s hard to believe our little ones are getting so big!
Yes, LB’s avi is B & R hittin it. Pretty cute IMO.

KB – I’ll try to get the Pink sombrero, but there’s no guarantee! 🙂

  6. Soooo cute! She’s growing up! It looks like you and your family had a blast! Kids are a lot more technology suave these days. Super scary.

LB- I love that poem! What’s a Japanese Hibachi rest?

Sarai- *writes on notepad hat for birthday* 😉

Kate- You gonna wear it? I’ll bring camera. Teehee.

  7. It’s true LA..kids are so much more technology savvy than I expect them to be. I think in my little one’s case it’s because she sees what her older sister has, but who knows???

Japanese hibachi rest., aka restaurant, pictures.

  8. Now We Are Six? A.A.Milne. Just my fav. kids poems EVER.

And the hibachi is cookin’ on the table stuff..you know, they squirt sake in your mouth from a ketchup bottle and fling knifes around and make a volcano out of onion rings and set it on fire???No???

Batman and Robin are very close.

  9. Ok – I’m with you on the cooking on the table, throwing knives and the whole volcano thing…but I’ve nver been to one that shoots sake into your mouth with a ketchup bottle. Apparently us Californians aren’t doing it right! lol

  10. Drea, you could say that they are often so close they are attached at the, uh, hip.

Tracy~They squirt that stuff in your mouth and count until you can’t hold anymore of that vile elixir and you wind up getting sprayed with it. We usually reserve this for the adult birthday party.

  11. Dang, lb. I don’t think we have restaurants like that in Chicago. It might seem tame here when you visit 😉

Tracy- Your girls are beautiful. The last pic with the hat is fabulous. That will be one to pull out when she is older. Great material for boyfriend embarrassment.

  12. Sounds like a great day! Oy, hair and make/up party?? You know, I bet if I mentioned that to my son he would want a party like that too!

  13. Thanks CJ

Shannon -Yep – one to pull out later, definitely. I have more than a few of those! 🙂

Amy – What? You don’t think that Dev would like the hair and make up thing? lol
