It’s All Karen Templeton’s Fault….

A couple months ago Sybil recommended Karen Templeton to me. She told me she’d read Dear Santa and was pleasantly surprised by it. Because Sybil is a big fat pusher who wouldn’t be quiet about it teh awesome, I read the book and reviewed it on TGTBTU. She was right, it was a pleasant surprise. Filled with emotion and a wonderful plot, I was hooked from the first.

Dear Santa is the first book in her Guys and Daughters series. Directly after finishing it, I started Yours, Mine…or Ours. Another stellar book I reviewed at TGTBTU. The thing is, I was so wrapped up in reading it I stayed up late and couldn’t get my lazy butt out of bed the next morning for work. As a result, I was almost an hour late coming in.

But then, Karen emailed me and said she was going to send me Baby, I’m Yours, the next book in the series and the one I’ve been wanting since I finished Dear Santa. Why? Because this is Kevin’s book (the heroine’s brother from Dear Santa) and I was intrigued by him the moment he was first mentioned in DS.

I received it yesterday and read a couple pages, but I was in the middle of another book and wanted to finish that one before I dove into this one. As a result, I didn’t really start it until this morning. At 7 a.m. Yes, I realize this is a bad time to start a book, because I have an hour drive to work every morning and have to leave my house by 8. But did that stop me? Nope, it sure didn’t. And you know what happened? I fell into the story and before I realized it, I was halfway into the story and it was 8:30. Yes, 8 freaking 30. I have to leave my house no later than 8:15 to get to work on time (and that’s if I break a few speed limit laws on the way) and here it was, 8:30 and I wasn’t even ready to leave.

I exercised some will power (which isn’t easy for me) and managed to get out of the house at 8:45. Which means I got to work at 9:30. Half-hour late. That makes two separate occasions where I was late to work because I was reading a Karen Templeton book.

Now, I’m not really one to shift blame, because I firmly believe in personal responsibility. But in this case? Totally not my fault. You see, I blame Sybil and Karen Templeton.

If Sybil hadn’t pushed KT on me told me about these books, and if Karen Templeton were a less talented author – not to mention a less generous one – I wouldn’t have been so wrapped up in reading these books and I wouldn’t have been late to work.

See, totally not my fault. You understand I wasn’t to blame, don’t you? Sadly, my boss didn’t. *sigh*

*grinning* So everyone will understand when I start blaming Sybil? Kewl!

Poor duckie, don’t have no book?

  3. You have something Sybil doesn’t?

Okay, I can’t play because Sybil got me a Stuart ARC but, uh, way too funny!

Now see, I would have called in sick. Another reason I can’t be hired.

I need me some Templeton – gonna have to find these.

I’m still knee-deep in “obligation” reading or believe you me, I’d have plowed through Kevin’s story as well. I flipped through the first chapter and immediately set it aside because dang, I know I’m going to love it. Must. Get. Obligation. Reading. Done. First.
