Deal with the Devil is Orphan Black meets the post-apocalyptic Avengers by USA Today and New York Times bestselling author duo Kit Rocha.

Nina is an information broker with a mission--she and her team of mercenary librarians use their knowledge to save the hopeless in a crumbling America.

Knox is the bitter, battle-weary captain of the Silver Devils. His squad of supersoldiers went AWOL to avoid slaughtering innocents, and now he's fighting to survive.

They're on a deadly collision course, and the passion that flares between them only makes it more dangerous. They could burn down the world, destroying each other in the process...

Or they could do the impossible: team up.

This is the first book in a near-future science fiction series with elements of romance.

When Kit Rocha first announced they were writing a Mercenary Librarians series, I was beyond excited. Mercenary.Librarians. COME TO MAMA. Deal with the Devil is the first book in the series, and it definitely left me wanting more.

Garrett Knox is captain of the Silver Devils, an elite squad of super soldiers. He joined up to change the world and do some good, but he quickly realized TechCorps, the agency in charge of their genetic modifications (and basically the world), just wanted elite assassins. They finally have enough and he and his team have gone AWOL, but without regular maintenance, their genetic modifications will deteriorate and slowly kill them all – a kill switch embedded by TechCorps to keep them in line. The problem? The scientist they need to fix their implants has been kidnapped, and the only way she’ll be returned is if Knox delivers Nina, an information broker, in exchange.

Nina is skeptical of Knox’s offer to lead her to the fabled hidden Library of Congress, but she it’s an opportunity she can’t pass up. She and her sisters-of-the-heart a strong and capable, so they agree, but keep their guard up. She’s surprised at the chemistry they have, but she knows falling into bed with someone she doesn’t trust is a bad idea. The more time the two teams spend together, the harder it is to keep a wall between them.

I absolutely loved the sheer amount of Girl Power in this novel. Nina, Dani and Maya were wonderfully written. They were kickass, but also relatable. Knox and his Silver Devils were also very well done. I like that they paid attention to the strengths the ladies brought and didn’t try to take over or make decisions for them. There was a good amount of mutual respect on both sides that really brought this novel together.

Parts were a bit predictable View Spoiler », and there were times the story moved rather slow, but I easily fell into this book and can’t wait for the next.

Excerpt: Marked by Kit Rocha, Vivian Arend and Lauren Dane (only $2.99!)

touchmeMARKED: Three stories of passion, possession, and ink

 Stories can take us from our everyday world into the future, or to places in the current here and now that we’ve never before been. They can show us heat, and passion, and in the case of an anthology, provide more than one trip to a fabulous happily-ever-after.

Kit Rocha, Lauren Dane and Vivian Arend welcome you to MARKED. Three brand new stories we’re thrilled to share with you.

We’re stopping off at some our favorite blogs with some steamy excerpts. Each of us has pulled a snippet from our novella following a chosen theme, to give you a taste of what you’ll find in MARKED. The theme for this post?

~~~TOUCH ME~~~
markedBeyond Temptation
Kit Rocha returns to Sector Four in BEYOND TEMPTATION. A promise to a dying friend backfires when Noah Lennox finds that the girl he was supposed to rescue is all grown up–and wearing O’Kane ink. He wants to protect her from the secrets of their past, but she wants him. And an O’Kane woman always gets what she wants.
~*~
His arms flexed as he hauled his shirt over his head and let it fall. “Then touch me.”
Touch him? He may as well have asked her to touch some priceless pre-Flare sculpture. The lines were the same, chiseled and perfect, but carved from muscle instead of stone. Alive and responsive.
Emma came to her knees. She traced the hard swell of one pectoral, grazed his nipple, and molded her hand to his shoulder. “You’re beautiful.” His skin was bare, unadorned, but she could already see the art beneath it, the places where she’d lay ink.
His head tilted back and swallowed. “I’m out of practice,” he said roughly. “I haven’t had a lot of time for…affection lately.”
“No?” That was a shame. A body like his should be celebrated–tasted and stroked and licked and sketched, committed to memory in every sense that existed.
markedRocky Ride
Take a ROCKY RIDE with New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Vivian Arend as she leads you back to the Six Pack Ranch. Anna Coleman might be the law around Rocky Mountain House, but bad boy Mitch Thompson knows that under the stiff RCMP uniform is a woman with a passion for speed and pleasure that matches his own, and he’s not giving up until she’s his.
~*~
She looked up into a far more serious expression than expected. “What?”
Mitch stroked a thumb over her cheek, his touch lingering and affectionate. “Thank you for coming out tonight. Thank you for agreeing to try this with me. You’re one hell of a woman.”
All her fears seemed irrational in light of the passion in his eyes. She rubbed her cheek against his hand for a second. It was time for them to go public? They might as well do it right. “One hell of a woman who plans to ride you hard tonight.”
The double entendre shot all seriousness away like she’d hoped, and suddenly her cocky, arrogant hoodlum was back in control. “You wish, babe. You wish.”
markedAll That Remains
New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Lauren Dane takes you into a brand new world in ALL THAT REMAINS. Summer Killian falls fast and hard when Charlie arrives in Paradise Village. But the heat turns all the way up when she learns Charlie is also with Hatch – the man she loved three years before. While she’s not sure she’s cut out for a triad, neither man is going to give her up.
~*~
Summer took a shuddering breath as Charlie touched her calves, catching the soft material of her dress up. His hands were work-rough, warm, big and sure, a contrast to the well worn, soft as a breath cotton of her dress.
The night air came through the open windows of her caravan, like a kiss against the skin he revealed as the hem inched higher and higher. There was something narcotic about this moment and she let it take her.
Her head bent, her hair over her face, hiding from Hatch who saw her to her bones.
He allowed it but she knew he wouldn’t for long.
What I Read Last Week
Posted October 7, 2013 by Tracy in Features | 0 Comments
Greetings my friends. How the heck are ya?
Things here are good. The kids are on Fall break at the moment (all week for the youngest and just Mon. & Tues. for the oldest) so I’m trying to find activities to keep them occupied. I don’t get the week off so that makes it a bit difficult.
My youngest daughter had her first promotion test in her quest for her 2nd Dan in Taekwondo. She did great, of course. She doesn’t actually get a different belt, just a white star that gets sewn onto her black uniform. I’m not sure how many stars she needs before she can test for her 2nd Dan but I’m sure it’s a boatload. 🙂 Here’s a vid that I put together of the various parts of her test. There were a couple of things I left out because people were blocking my taping. WE know what they are but everyone else would have looked at it and said, “what the hell is that?” lol
At my church this weekend we had the Blessing of the Animals service. We had church in the courtyard instead of indoors and there were lots of cats and dogs, a bunny and a bearded dragon. Very cool. Our cat, Echo, is not really a people person. She loves HER people but when a visitor comes over she’ll run and hide and stay there for hours until the person leaves. She also loves to look out the windows in our house but doesn’t like it when we take her outside – she also doesn’t like her carrier so taking her to the blessing was interesting. She was very vocal on her way to church and when I told my daughter to take her out of the carrier for the blessing she didn’t want to for fear that Echo would jump out of her arms and run away. She didn’t – yay! and was actually pretty darned calm. She was still meowing pretty loudly when we took her to the blessing but other than that she did wonderfully. She even let people come up and pet her! I kept trying to take a picture of her and every time I did she’d hide her face. OMG it was hilarious. So, this is what I got…shy kitty. Yes, that’s Echo’s face hiding in my daughter’s armpit lol
Giveaways!  (Yikes, almost forgot completely!)
Winner of the Steam Bath: Sweaty Gay Erotica giveaway is ELF.
Winner of My 2013 5 Star Reads (so far) giveaway is Timitra.
Congrats to both of you!
Anyway, on to what I read this past week:
First for the week was The Christmas He Loved Her by Juliana Stone. The story is about a man and woman who have been friends forever but she was once married to his twin who has since died. He’s been in love with the woman for forever but obviously never acted on those feelings since she was unavailable. The couple deals with their feelings for each other as well as guilt and depression. I’ll post my review for this one later this week.
Next up was Beyond Shame by Kit Rocha (aka Moira Rogers) that I picked at All Romance eBooks as a freebee recently. The story is set in dystopian world where there are sectors outside of the city, i.e. rebels and/or those that got kicked out of the city for one thing or another. Noelle is a councilman’s daughter but after two arrest – 1 for drinking and 1 for fornication she’s kicked out of the city. She gets taken in by the O’Kane gang who runs Sector 4. There she meets Jasper and has to learn to get past the shame of enjoying those things that she’s been told all her life are wrong. This was a really good book. I very much liked the story and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. This is an erotic novel so there was an abundance of sex but I thought it worked in well with the story. 4 out of 5
Next up was Long Shot by Hanna Martine. This is a friends to lovers/reunited love kind of story. Jen used to spend every summer in Breann, New Hampshire starting at 8 years old. That summer she met Leith and they continued to be friends every summer she arrived from Iowa. When she was 18 she showed up and their friendship became much more. Leith asked her to stay with him but she was off to college. Now it’s 10 years later and Jen is back in Breann to help plan their Highland Games for them. Jen and Leith meet once and they soon discover that the passion they shared hasn’t died with a 10 year separation. The story was really good and I loved so many things about this book. 4 out of 5 (read for Book Binge)
Taming the Alpha by Adriana Hunter was the story of Nikki who is a stripper and meets Jax when he is desperate to find a mate (he’s a werewolf) and decides to hit the strip joint. They have a connection and hit it off but he’s not sure how the pack will accept her. To say he was ashamed of her would be putting it mildly as he never introduced her to anyone the entire book. He doesn’t even tell her he’s a werewolf until the last few pages and then she’s all, “I don’t care, I love you!” Ahem. Yeah, ok. Then there’s his strange reaction to her best friend (and we never find out why) and the completely unsolved murders that occur in the book. The novella was just the first part of the series but I felt like I should have gotten a whole lot more info by the end of the book. 2 out of 5
Duke of Midnight by Elizabeth Hoyt was last for the week and it was a good one. The story is the love story between the Duke of Wakefield and the companion of the woman he’s courting. Messed up much? Artemis is actually a wonderful character with just not much going for her in life. She has a brother in Bedlam who was accused of murder and has barely a penny to her name, not to mention her love of a Duke who refuses to marry her. sigh I’ll post my review of this one next week. 4 out of 5
Happy Reading!
eBook (and Swag) Giveaway: Beyond Shame by Kit Rocha
Posted October 22, 2012 by Holly in Giveaways | 7 Comments
Today we have an erotic novel for you, Beyond Shame by Kit Rocha. Kit Rocha is the alter-ego of Moira Rogers, and boy are these books SPICY.
A dangerous world of sex, lust and violence…
All Noelle Cunningham has ever wanted is a life beyond–beyond the walls of Eden, where only the righteous are allowed /to remain, and beyond her stiflingly restrictive existence as a councilman’s daughter. But only ruins lie outside the City, remnants of a society destroyed by solar storms decades earlier.
The sectors surrounding Eden house the corrupt, the criminal–men like Jasper McCray, bootlegger and cage fighter. Jas clawed his way up from nothing to stand at the right hand of Sector Four’s ruthless leader, and he’ll defend the O’Kane gang with his life. But no fight ever prepared him for the exiled City girl who falls at his feet.
Her innocence is undeniable, but so is their intense sexual attraction, and soon they’re crossing every boundary Noelle barely knew she had. But if she wants to belong to Jas, first she’ll have to open herself to the gang, and to a world where passion is power, and freedom is found in submission.
