The wrong man never felt so right...

Ex-fighter Reed Miller has been secretly lusting over his best friend’s girl for months, but he refuses to jeopardize a friendship over a woman—especially one who doesn’t like him all that much. Now that Darcy’s on the market again, it’s even more imperative to stick to his strict hands-off policy. But the sizzling attraction between them is too powerful to ignore, and once he’s had a taste of her…all bets are off.

Darcy Grant is tired of walking the straight and narrow path. She’s on the hunt for passion, and there’s no denying Reed is just the man to give it to her. Although she has no interest in dating a bad boy, and certainly not her ex’s best friend, it’s impossible not to melt beneath Reed’s skillful touch. Now it’s just a matter of setting a few ground rules—and hoping her rule-breaking, sweet-talking bad boy agrees to follow them. But if she lets Reed into her bed, does she stand a chance of keeping him out of her heart?

One Night of Scandal (After Hours #2) by Elle Kennedy features Reed, one of the owners of the club. It was obvious to everyone in One Night of Sin that Reed had a thing for his best friend AJ’s girl, Darcy. I was curious to see how that would play out here.

Reed was immediately attracted to Darcy when he met her, which was really unfortunate since she was dating his best friend and business partner, AJ, at the time. He knew the only way to protect himself was to keep distance between them. When he discovers her out with another guy one night he loses his shit..until he realizes she and AJ broke up. He knows he can’t date his best friend’s ex, but when AJ asks him to step in and lead a self-defense class at the school where Darcy teaches, he knows he’s in big trouble.

Darcy doesn’t understand why Reed is such a jerk to her, until the share a passionate kiss and the truth comes out. She and AJ realized pretty quickly that they were great friends without any chemistry, but it still seems wrong to date one of his best friends. Plus, she doesn’t think Reed is the type to commit to a relationship and she isn’t looking to get played. The passion she was missing with AJ? Yeah, she found it big time with Reed. Now if she can just keep from falling in love with him everything will be just fine…

I really felt the chemistry between Reed and Darcy. I liked that they didn’t try to hide it (for long) and they were pretty upfront about things with AJ. AJ definitely deserved sainthood for his reaction. I didn’t love the additional conflict of Darcy thinking Reed was only good for a fling and the misunderstanding at the end was a bit contrived. Reed was good to Darcy from the start, so she had no reason to keep pushing him away.

Overall this was a good story, though. I liked Darcy and Reed together, I just wish they’d communicated better.

A sexy category romance novella from Entangled’s Brazen imprint…

Sometimes it’s good to be bad…

When it comes to sex, good girl Skyler Thompson always plays it safe, choosing stable and sedate over wild and thrilling. She doesn’t do one-night-stands, but one look at sinfully sexy Gage Holt and she’s willing to reconsider. He makes her want to be bad for once in her life, and she’s prepared to take what she wants.

Danger follows former MMA fighter Gage Holt like a shadow. Despite his successes as part owner of Sin, an exclusive nightclub in Boston, Gage can’t risk getting involved with a woman, especially one as sweet as Skyler. Still, he can’t resist a taste—and it’s so damn good he has to see her again.

As addicted as he is to her, Gage knows there’s no future for him and Skyler—not with his past lurking in the dark corners of an MMA cage. But Skylar’s tougher than she looks, and she’s ready to fight for her man.

One Night of Sin (After Hours #1) by Elle Kennedy was available on KU in both digital and audio, so I decided to give it a try. The narrator didn’t work for me so I ended up reading it.

Skylar is on a bad first date in the club where Gage is part owner when they run into each other in a back alley. He has things going down in his life that stop him from wanting a relationship, but when Skylar propositions him he can’t say no…even though he knows she’s too much of a good-girl for him.

Skylar is tired of playing it safe. She wants Gage and she isn’t afraid to go after him. After she shares the hottest encounter of her life with him, she knows she has to go back to the club. They start seeing each other, but Gage is careful to keep it casual..until it’s not.

This was a quick, light read. I enjoyed the story and the romance. I really liked how upfront and honest Skyler was. She called Gage on his crap and didn’t let him get away with ghosting her. She was great. Gage needed someone to call him on his crap.

I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

“You’re going to have to do better than prom night, Peach.” He kept his voice as heavy as cement. Her hand stopped pumping and he tried to ignore the protest screeching from his cock in its absence. Peach was what everyone called her in high school, her name being Georgia. It was a much nicer nickname than Gilligan had been, based not only on the island but also his skinny neck, sharp shoulder blades, and perpetually wet hair from daily jock-stipulated swirlies. He hadn’t thought about that in years, either. About the day he first became the focus of her group’s taunts and every terrible day after that.

Bad memories mingled with good old uncontrollable desire as her legs crisscrossed like scissors
along his side—hot, smooth skin and her need slicked his thigh. Her nickname had another meaning. She was a juicy peach through and through. “Are you coming up with ideas?” The timbre of his voice was low and direct. He couldn’t, wouldn’t get lost in her. Her hand started working his cock again, fingers skimming from his base to his tip. He bit back a moan. She was a cheerleader to the very end. It felt good, ten years better than good, but he needed more. For making his life hell during high school, she’d have to give him a show, a damn parade. “Tick tock, Peach.”

It was bold, to be sure. He figured she would balk and leave. Intellectually, he wanted her to. She couldn’t expect to treat him the way she had and then just climb into his bed and expect all was forgiven—though his cock definitely seemed willing to hear apologies. She straddled him, laid her legs on either side of his hips, and rubbed along his straining length. “Better?” she mused, grinding and teasing. Her tits jostled against his chest with each thrust.

She was sopping through her panties, and the contact drowned his nerves into a pool of lightning. He’d wanted it to not be enough, but it was all he could do to stay secured to the bed as she writhed and thrashed. Her pretty, pouty mouth nibbled on his neck and she pounded against his cock at the pitch of his heartbeat, turning that lightning to thunder. Her breath was ragged as her tongue tasted his earlobe.

The mouth that had teased him all through high school was teasing him in a different way now. A burn he’d suffered years ago was being soothed by her hot skin. He sank lower into the bed, and bursts of glow-in-the dark pom-poms flashed behind his eyes. If he didn’t push her off of him, he was done for. Who was he kidding? He was done for already. It was too much. It might have been ten years past his fantasy, but Georgia “Peach” Cahill was giving him a private lap dance. More than that, she seemed to like it. With each lunge, it was like she welcomed the jab of his cock against her waiting and willing pussy. It didn’t matter why she’d snuck into his bed, because she was here for him now. For Gideon, the man he had become.

He’d give her what she was asking for. Prove to her that his unexpected windfall wasn’t all that had changed about him. He urged against her with more force, hitting the spot that would make her ride him even harder, reveling in the pressure of her sweet softness against his cock. Her breath escalated, and she moaned in gratitude. He wanted to see what other noises he could force out of her. He longed to make her squeal, to make her beg. To make the bright blue eyes that had rolled at his nerdiness now roll back in her head in ecstasy. She might have started this, but he was going to finish it. He spread his thumb along her jaw. “That’s enough playtime; panties off, Peach.” Her breath rasped, but she didn’t acquiesce.

“That’s why you’re here, isn’t it? To fuck me—to get fucked by me?” He wielded more power by forcing her off of him and positioning her against the bed, his legs locked on either side. She let out a surprised gasp. “Yes, but I’m supposed to seduce you.”

“Things change, and I don’t seduce.” He snaked his tongue along the center of her body, between her tits, and down to her belly button. She tasted of vanilla incense. “I own.”

Well, alrighty then…
