He may be at a romance readers’ convention, but a naked woman in the elevator is not what horror writer Ryan Wheeler expects. Now he can’t take his eyes off of her—and not just because he saw her naked, though her luscious curves certainly aren’t helping the matter. She’s beautiful, funny, snarky…and a complication he doesn’t need.

Running into her teen heartthrob while naked wasn’t exactly part of romance novelist Andi Palmer’s weekend plans. Worse, he doesn’t recognize her and gives her a fake name¬. Years ago, he shot her down in the worst possible way, and now this? It’s time for a little down-and-dirty revenge.

Ryan’s more than a little turned on by this good girl who wants to be bad. But things aren’t what they seem, and the secrets they’re keeping from one another might just end this sexy little rendezvous before it ever begins…

When Andi Palmer was younger she was overweight and had a crush on her brother’s friend Nolan. He thought she was a sweet girl and kind enough but she took his kindness as interest and made a move on him. Nolan was a bit of an ass back then and when she made her move he laughed at her.

When Andi gets stuck in an elevator with an all-grown-up Nolan she plots her revenge. She plans to come on to him again, get him all hot and bothered, and then leave him that way without following through. The problems are two-fold: Andi doesn’t have any idea that Nolan isn’t Nolan but actually his older brother Jack (who goes by the name Ryan); and she’s so attracted to the man so she can’t actually leave him hot and bothered when the time comes.

Ryan is incredibly attracted to Andi right from the start. He loves that she seems like a sweet girl… and she is, but with a bit of a bad girl thrown in there for good measure. He loves it when she shows up unexpectedly at his hotel room and the rest, as they say, is history. Unfortunately, Ryan figures out that Andi thinks he’s Nolan and doesn’t know how to tell her the truth about his identity nor what he truly does for a living. Andi finds herself falling for the man but once she finds out some truths about him she’s not sure she can get past the lies when she thought they might be headed for an HEA.

This was a very cute book. I liked Ryan and Andi together almost immediately and I loved that she was a good girl who had a bit of a bad side. I truly wish that Ryan would have come clean about who he was because as a writer herself, Andi would have understood his reasons for being incognito.

The romance was sweet and I enjoyed the story.

When Eden Carver, Iowa farm girl turned NY actress, decides to seduce the sexy cop next door, she begins to wonder if she’s bitten off more than she can chew.

The last thing Officer Jay Bennett wants is to cross a line with the sweet and innocent country girl—no matter how much he’d like to help himself to a nibble. Not only are they in the friendship zone, a naïve girl like Eden doesn’t belong in his dangerous world.

But when she asks him to help her rehearse lines, and things go from simmer to boil, he finds himself doing the one thing he swore he’d never do. He knows he needs to walk away from temptation, but when sweet little Eden bites back, it tilts his world on its axis. Because biting back changes everything.

When I first requested this book for review, I wasn’t expecting it to be so short. But it’s a short story and with short stories, they either leave you wanting more or you’re happy with it. With this book, I was happy with it. It was a cute story about two neighbors who are good friends that come to love the hell out of each other but don’t know how to broach the topic since they’re both been firmly, friend-zoned.

Eden is an actress from Iowa who has the hots for her best friend/next door neighbor, Jay. Jay is a cop and he’s trying his damndest to keep things platonic between him and Eden because his world is filled with danger and he doesn’t want to subject Eden to all of that. At the same time, he won’t give up his dangerous job or world because of reasons that are his own. But damn does he want Eden.

Their coming together story was too cute for words. Eden wants to be more than friends with Jay and with the help of her friends, she finds out a way to make that dream, a reality and the way she went about it was cute and funny. Jay was a total stud and I ate him up.

This was a great, quick read for those times when you don’t have the time or energy to invest in a drawn out drama of a book. It was enjoyable. I will definitely be checking out more from this author in the future.

Guest Author (+ a Giveaway): Interview with Alexander Stavros by Sara Fawkes

INTERVIEW WITH ALEXANDER STAVROS

(“Fling: A BDSM Erotica Anthology“)

by Sara Fawkes

There are some vacations one doesn’t tell their conservative parents about.

The Mancusi Resort is an island paradise on the Mediterranean Sea just off the coast of Italy. It is one of the premier vacation spots for those looking to get away from the world, to take a break from their busy lives. It has been host to foreign dignitaries and tourists alike, and caters to the needs of each individual guest.

The resort is also known for hosting themed vacations, such as what is in store this week. When I stepped off the ferry, I had no idea what I would find. The very idea of a “Fetish Week” brings so many ideas to the forefront, allowing the mind to race over what exactly is in store.

Let me tell you, my dear readers, this is like NOTHING you’ve experienced before.

Alexander Stavros, current manager of the Mancusi Resort and the one who will be in charge of the week’s festivities, met me at the front of the hotel. I can’t think of a better host than the Greek Dom who all but exudes power and sensuality. I’ve been around some powerful men in my day and each one has that same aura: the sense that you’re safe, that they’ll take care of everything.

Even for an independent woman, that sort of energy is extremely sexy.

We sat down in a shaded area to the side of the entrance, still in view of the ferry dock. Alexander is a big man who wears his strength well. I’d been informed beforehand about my host: he was a businessman first and foremost, but is also a well-respected Dominant within the BDSM community. He was the perfect person to be overseeing this operation.

And, oh my, when he just LOOKS at you, immediately you want to melt!

“So, what enticed you to help run Fetish Week?” I asked, grabbing a nearby brochure.

“An old friend enlisted my help,” he answered, “but I am hoping that I can mix business with pleasure this week as well.”

Oh my! I cleared my throat. “Ah yes, that sounds lovely. So, what exactly should I expect this week?”

“We have a variety of activities planned, as well as many seminars about the many aspects of fetish life. There is no one-size-fits-all rule here; each individual is different. For example, I can tell you are a successful woman, but would I be wrong if I guessed you enjoy being dominated in the bedroom?”

I started fanning myself. “And if that was true?”

He leaned in close. “I always did prefer redheads.”

OH MY! It’s hard to talk, let alone think, when this man’s eyes are on you. I fumbled for words, temptation sizzling through me. I think he got the hint when I started twisting my engagement ring because he sat back. “Will you be running any of the seminars?” I asked, trying to mask my disappointment. Oh, to be young and free again!

He nodded. “I will be mostly in charge of the dungeons, while my co-manager Francesca Mornini will coordinate the classes.”

Dungeons? My mind immediately raced to medieval torture devices, handcuffs and whips and chains. He must have seen what I was thinking because he gave me a small smile that made my heart do flip-flops. “You may be surprised by what you find here, but it is best to have an open mind. Experimentation is encouraged, and we try to keep all our demonstration and activities within safe boundaries, unless otherwise requested by patrons.”

I was just about to ask him what constituted “safe” when something behind me distracted him. “Excuse me,” he said, rising from his chair. “It was wonderful meeting you, and I very much look forward to seeing you around our resort.”

His attention was focused on something behind me, and as he swept past I turned to look. At the foot of the ferry ramp, a young woman was frantically trying to pick up items from the ground, her suitcase appearing to have broken. Alexander made a beeline for her, bending down to help her with the mess.

I couldn’t help but smile as I noticed she was a fellow redhead. Somehow, I was pretty sure she would have a very interesting time at the Mancusi Resort.

As I headed inside, I began to get glimpses of what I was in for this week. A beautiful woman walked past me, holding a leather leash over her shoulder attached to the collar of an eager young man. Another statuesque blonde covered from neck to toe in a latex suit was checking in, a young lady sitting patiently at her feet. As I waited in line, I watched two young couples greet one another with hugs, then take the hand of the opposing partner and wander off separately toward the elevators and pool area.

This week is going to be FUN!!

Guest Review: Impulsive by Cathryn Fox

Tracy’s review of Impulsive (An Eternal Pleasure Novel #2) by Cathryn Fox

She’s fled her alpha wolf-and the entire paranormal community of Serene. A free woman-wolf, Sunray returns to Chicago-and the last thing she expects to find there is her reincarnated lover, who died the night she was changed into a lycan a century ago. Still, Sunray knows they can never revive their passion. Because now he’s a lycan hunter-and she, his prey…

Kane doesn’t believe this beautiful lycan’s story. Still, he recognizes Sunray as the sexy woman in his recurring dreams. For now, prey and predator have forged an uneasy truce as they join forces to capture a rogue shifter. But after their work is done, will either be able to resist a passion that could consume them?

100 year ago Sunni was with her lover, Ray, when they attacked by a large, vicious wolf. The wolf was actually a werewolf named Vall. Vall kills Ray and turns Sunni into a werewolf. Many years have passed and Sunni has killed Vall, or so she thinks, and she and two of her friends have faked their own deaths and fled Serene, the town of “others” that they previously lived in. Six months after her supposed death Sunni, now named Sunray, smells Ray’s scent on her friend’s jacket. Sunray goes in search of the man who bears the scent believing that he is Ray reincarnated.

Kane is the man that Sunray finds and he’s a PTF officer – a man who hunts and kills all lycan’s – but he’s completely into Sunray and her submission. When Sunray and Kane team up to find and kill Vall, Kane’s past comes through and he realizes that he is indeed Ray.

While this book started out being an interesting paranormal read for me I quickly found myself annoyed at the heroine. I understood that after 100 years she longed for her long lost love, Ray, but I felt that Kane and who he was today got swept under the table. Yes, Sunray did say that she loved who Kane was, as well as who Ray was, but her actions spoke to me differently than her words.

Vall’s involvement in the story also seemed anticlimactic. It was a very predictable story – bad guy, search for bad guy, kill bad guy, live happily ever after. While I enjoyed the writing I wasn’t a huge fan of the story. And while the book wasn’t bad it wasn’t great for me either. Then the epilogue came and I bout lost it. Thank heavens it was the end of the book or I would have put it down. lol

Spoiler:

Right at the end, and yes Kane has been turned into a werewolf, they are hunting on a full moon together as wolves and having shifter sex. Not a problem for me except the other female wolves were waiting around for their turn! And apparently as a virile male in the lycan community that’s just A-ok. But it left a bad taste in my mouth to say the least. Especially when Kane says to Sunray, (something to the effect of) “You don’t mind that I fuck them, do you? You know you’re the only one I love, right?” Spoken like a true cheating bastard.

Anyway, not a bad book but there were too many parts of it that rubbed me the wrong way, unfortunately.
