Excerpt (+ a Giveaway): Forever and a Day by Jill Shalvis

We have some exciting news to share, via Jill Shalvis’ blog:

So I’ve had a lot of email, FB and blog posts asking me what’s next, and finally I have an answer for you… My publisher (Grand Central) has just contracted me to write more Lucky Harbor novels!!

I don’t have any more details other than that. Okay, well I sort of do. I know that there will be a new trilogy. I know that the first new hero will be a San Francisco Lieutenant Detective who goes through hell at work and escapes to the house his grandma left him in Lucky Harbor. All Luke Hanover wants is peace and quiet, except … there’s a woman in his house, looking a little bit wild and crazy as she stands nearly naked in his kitchen breaking up with someone’s voice mail.

Score! We’re talking at least 3 more Lucky Harbor books. If any of them are half as good as Forever and a Day, we’re in for some good reading.

The morning went so smoothly that Josh got an actual lunch break. He met Ty and Matt at the Love Shack, Lucky Harbor’s bar and grill. They’d beaten him there and were seated at a table hunched over Cosmo magazine.

“It was on the table when I got here,” Matt said in his defense.

Josh eyed the open magazine. “You don’t already know how to satisfy your boyfriends in bed?”

Matt ignored this. “Did either of you know there’s ninety-nine ways to give a blow job? That’s ninety-nine nights of blow jobs.”

“Look at you with the math skills,” Josh said.

Matt flipped him off while Ty flipped the page. “‘How to Give Your Hoo-Ha a Spa Day.’ Huh,” he said. “I didn’t know a woman’s hoo-ha needed a spa day.”

Ha. I love these guys. If you haven’t already, go buy a copy. It’s a stellar book.

MJ Rose Creates First Fan Fiction by Published Author.

I’m not one to go out and read fan fiction or write fan fiction myself but there seems to be a pretty big fanbase for that sort of thing and when we came across the following press release, we thought we’d spread the word to those of our readers who are into all of this.

M.J. Rose is the first published author to publish an e-fan fiction story and the book, titled In Session came out on October 17th.

Some Nalini Singh Guild Hunters News

In my review of Archangel’s Consort, I said I’d like to see Nalini Singh expand the series to include Raphael’s seven. Apparently she’s going to do just that. The 4th book, Archangel’s Blade, due out in Sept. 2011, is going to be about Dmitri, Raphael’s right hand vampire. Although he isn’t my favorite of the seven, I’m still anxious to read his book.

Casee isn’t happy that Singh is moving out of Elena’s head, but I’m excited to see where the series goes.

What about you? Are you glad to know the series will be expanding? Or would you prefer to stay in Elena’s head?

Nora Roberts sells 1 million Kindle Books

Yesterday Amazon announced that Nora Roberts was the third author to sell 1 million Kindle books. Russ Grandinetti, vice President of Kindle Contest says, “Nora Roberts has been a bestseller at Amazon for 15 years so this accomplishment is no surprise. We’re happy to welcome Nora Roberts to the Kindle Million Club, joining Stieg Larsson and James Patterson.”

SEATTLE—Jan. 12, 2011—Amazon.com, Inc., (NASDAQ: AMZN) today announced that Nora Roberts has become the third author to sell over 1 million Kindle books, becoming the third member of the “Kindle Million Club.” As of yesterday, Nora Roberts has sold 1,170,539 Kindle books under her name and her pseudonym J.D. Robb. The Kindle Million Club recognizes authors whose books have sold over 1 million paid copies in the Kindle Store (www.amazon.com/kindlestore). Stieg Larsson, author of the Millennium Trilogy, was the first author to hit the 1 million mark.  James Patterson, author of more than 65 books that span the genres of suspense, fantasy, romance, historical fiction and children’s, was the second author to join the Kindle Million Club.

I’m not surprised that La Nora was the third. The woman is a powerhouse.
