Their second chance ignites with a bite.

Lennox Averdeen’s top three worst fears:

1. Anything remotely canine.

2. Finding out she has a secret baby.

3. Running into Garrett Anderson. Former best friend. Heartbreaker.

She pulls a trifecta when she realizes the stray canine and the tween kid hanging around her house are not only one and the same, he’s Garrett’s wolf shifter son.

When Garrett tracks down his runaway son and sees Lennox again, the widowed father’s heart begins to struggle against his self-imposed chains. Plus, just coming into town pits him against the local Alpha, and everything he hates about pack life. The death, the heartache.

Despite her fears, Lennox becomes the boy’s mother in all but DNA. But Garrett? He can hula-hoop with the nine rings of hell. Except the heat of attraction has never died, and there’s only one way to slake their sexual thirst. Make a smoking-hot deal, agree to part as friends…and try to ignore the sound of Fate howling with laughter.

Tracy’s review of There’s Something About Werewolves by Thalia Eames

When Lennox was in college she was completely in love with her best friend, Garrett. She thought he returned her feelings until he met Tina and then eloped with her. Lennox had to leave school because of her father’s illness and she did so without saying goodbye to Garrett and has had no contact with him since then. Now Garrett’s 12 year old son, Nox (named after Lennox) has shown up in town and wants to be near his godmother, Lennox. Unbeknownst to Leni, Nox is a werewolf and tells the alpha in town, Ian, that he wants to be part of his pack but only because he wants to be near Leni. Nox is young so he doesn’t realize the conflict he’s created between Ian and his father.

Ian realizes that Nox’s education when it comes to being a werewolf is sadly lacking. Garrett agrees to stay in town so that Nox can attend the local camp (which is for werewolves). While this is happening Leni is having a hard time keeping her hands off of Garrett. She’s sad that Garrett’s wife died, but she wants to be around Nox as much as she can and of course loves having Garrett around. She conflicted about her feelings for Garret and vacillates back and forth about them constantly. She lusts after him but he’s of the mind, born once, die once, marry once, love once. That doesn’t stop him from lusting after Lennox as well. He constantly tells her that they can’t be more than friends but the more time he spends with her the more he gets attached. When Nox is in trouble Lennox protects him the only way she knows how but Garrett decides that living with guilt and being around Lennox is too much and heads out of town.

When I first started reading this book I wasn’t sure I would continue. The writing style started out to be a bit unbalanced and it was hard to figure out where the author was going with the story. It soon smoothed out some so I kept on reading.

There was a lot going on in this book. There’s Nox and his desire to be near Leni; Nox’s desire to learn more about being a werewolf and learn control; Leni’s relationship with Garrett and her relationship with Ian; Leni’s complete and utter fear of dogs; the secrets that Garrett and the rest of the town were keeping from Leni; the blackmail attempt from an outside source…and there were a few more things thrown in there as well. I felt at times that it suffered from overkill.

I did love the parts with Nox and the other secondary characters – Cash, Gran, Paolo, Jules & Dillon. Those parts were wonderful and pretty darned heart-warming, yet sad at times. Their parts really saved the story for me in a way as it took us away from the constant back and forth between Garrett & Leni.

Some of my least favorite parts of the book, unfortunately, were the ones having to do with Garrett and Leni and their relationship. Garrett was determined to keep Leni at arms length and he was actually pretty verbally cruel there at times. That didn’t stop him from taking her to bed with him. The epilogue was supposed to clear everything up when they got their HEA and Garrett stated his true feelings for Leni, but that just served to annoy and frustrate me even more. I can’t tell you as it would be a humungous spoiler but suffice it to say it negated almost everything that Garrett has said about his feeling throughout the entire book! It was just too little too late for my liking. I also didn’t care for Leni’s treatment of Ian in the end and that was a big black mark on her in my book.

Overall the book had more good parts to it than bad but the bad overshadowed the good just a bit too much and made this just an ok read for me.
