Small town cop Clint Rivera can’t catch a break. His ex of two weeks is suddenly getting married, his dogs tore up his furniture, he’s getting evicted, and he’s out of beer. When he decides to solve his alcohol shortage by going to his ex’s engagement party, Clint winds up too drunk to drive himself home.

Enter gorgeous deputy mayor Hawk Black, the man who constantly shows up unexpectedly and sends Clint’s body and mind into a tailspin with nothing but his whiskey voice and blue eyes. After months of patience, Hawk can finally seduce the man he’s been craving.

Clint’s day might not have started out well, but Hawk’s going to make sure it ends with a bang, preferably in bed. He’ll show Clint some rewards are worth the risk. With love on the line, Clint will need to decide if he can open his heart, tear down his shields, and jump in with both feet.

Tracy’s review of Jumping In (ALPHA series #6) by Cardeno C.

Clint is having a horrible day for so many different reasons. He ends up at his ex’s engagement part to a woman (yes, you read that correctly) and ends up getting really drunk. He is saved from driving himself home by Hawk Black, the town’s Deputy Mayor. Hawk takes Clint to his house, feeds him and then lets him know in no uncertain terms exactly what he’s going to do to Clint once he gets his clothes off.

Hawk has been waiting for the right time to finally be with Clint and now is his chance. He’s been in love with the guy for months but now he just needs to get Clint to feel the same way.

Jumping In is a short novella about realizing your fears and getting past them. Clint had pretty much closed himself off from feelings – even though he believed he was open-hearted. He was upset about his ex but when he thought about it he wasn’t too torn up. Once Hawk makes his move and starts talking to Clint about his feelings for him Clint had to sit back and analyze a few thoughts and feelings. It wasn’t too too deep (and sometimes a bit cheesy) but enough to make the story work. His love for Hawk went from lust to love pretty quickly but there it is.

Hawk moved really quickly once he got Clint in his hands and it seemed a bit abrupt but once he explained how long he’d been waiting it didn’t seem quite as fast as I previously thought.

The story is cute and fun way to spend a little time. If you want a quick fun story to past the time this one will work for you.
