Casee: I was hoping to start May out strong, but I have not read nor listened to one word. When I do decide to read, I’m going to finish reading Wild Man (Dream Man #2) by Kristen Ashley. I know if I sit down with this book for ten minutes that I will be hooked. The inclination to do that just hasn’t been there. Very disappointing.

I was trying to listen to Cold-Hearted Rake (The Ravenels #1) by Lisa Kleypas, but had put that aside. I have succumbed to peer pressure. I would be ashamed, but at my age I’m beyond that. I’m going to start listening to Clean Sweep (Innkeeper Chronicles #1) by Ilona Andrews as soon as I feel like listening to audiobooks again. Again, the inclination to listen to audiobooks just hasn’t been there. I have no idea why. I am going to try.

Holly: I finally finished Getting Hot with the Scot by Melonie Johnson. It was just okay. The heroine frustrated me for the majority of the book, but I did come to like it in the end. Aside from that I re-read The Will and Fairytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley and re-listened to Repeat by Kylie Scott and Sweep in Peace by Ilona Andrews.

Rowena: I’ve been hella busy being on a family vacation in Utah and not reading so I didn’t get anything read until yesterday. I finished Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson #7) by Patricia Briggs and I really enjoyed that one. I need to stay on top of that series because I want to read Storm Cursed that comes out soon.

Yesterday, I read Passion on Park Avenue (The Central Park Pact #1) by Lauren Layne and that was another fun rom com that was delightful. There weren’t any sex scenes in the book at all but that didn’t bother me any, the chemistry and dialogue and just the overall story had me hooked. I can’t wait to read Claire and Scott’s book next!

Right after Passion on Park Avenue, I jumped into The Austen Playbook (London Celebrities #4) by Lucy Parker and that’s what I’m reading right now. Right after this book, which should be a quick read, I’ll be reading American Witch (American Witch #1) by Thea Harrison for our feature review for this month. I’m also planning on reading Love, Chloe by Alessandra Torre over the weekend. Fingers crossed.

WAYR-New

Casee: October is going well for me so far. I started Nalini’s Rock Kiss series. I remember beta reading Rock Addiction way back in the day, but for some reason I never read the rest of the series when it came out. I have no idea why. So I just reread Rock Addiction for the third time, which made me love it even more. Then I read Rock Hard. Now I’m reading Rock Redemption. I’m really enjoying this series.

I’m also listening to Steadfast by Sarina Bowen. I was telling Holly and Rowena that I didn’t understand what was so great about Jude. They both told me how much they lurved him. I still didn’t get it. Lets just say, I get it now. Jude. sigh

Holly: I had a slower reading week this week. Life has been kind of crazy. I finished Wild Hunger by Chloe Neill, which I didn’t love. It was just okay. It read more like young adult than straight UF, and that bothered me a lot. I reread Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs.

For audiobooks, I listened to On the Surface by Kate Willoughby. The hero was super adorable, but the final conflict was annoying and marred my enjoyment somewhat. I also listened to Once Upon a Sure Thing by Lauren Blakely.

Rowena: Like Holly, I’ve had a pretty slow reading week. I only listened to one audiobook at work because I was busy with other stuff but I did enjoy the books that I read. I read Rebel Hard (Hard Play #2) by Nalini Singh and even though Nayna was a bit frustrating at times, I enjoyed her story and even connected with all of the cultural stuff. The romance rocked too. Raj was such a dreamboat. I also read Fight or Flight by Samantha Young and after a rocky beginning, the hero stopped being a dickhead and I enjoyed the romance and how strong the heroine was. Lots of fun that story was.

I also listened to Archangel’s Consort (Guild Hunter #3) by Nalini Singh and enjoyed being back in Raphael and Elena’s world after a brief, okay I’m lying, a long ass break. I’ve got the next few audiobooks lined up and can’t wait to keep the Guild Hunter party going.

Right now, I’m reading Shadow and Ice (Gods of War #1) by Gena Showalter and then after this, I’ll be reading Kill the Queen (Crown of Shards #1) by Jennifer Estep.

WAYR-New

Casee: I’m deep into the Summer Reading Challenge. Okay, I’m about halfway through the first book in my challenge. I’m reading The Year We Hid Away by Sarina Bowen. Surprisingly enough, the first person writing isn’t bothering me at all. Maybe I’m over my aversion to FP? So what do I think of the book? It’s about two college kids and that is not my cuppa. It’s hitting a little too close to home with my own kid going away to college in 32 days. Plus there are some things in the book that are bothering me. I make sure to let Holly know every single thing. She did enough bitching sharing while she was reading Raphael by D.B. Reynolds, it’s only right that I return the favor.

I just received an early review of Cross Breed by Lora Leigh and I really want to quit this book to read it. But I’m in it until the bitter end. I’m on vacation next week and I plan on getting a lot of reading done. I can’t wait.

Holly: I finished my reread of Cry No More by Linda Howard. That book, man. So many feels. I also read Magic Triumphs by Ilona Andrews. I loved parts of it, but I wasn’t as satisfied at the end as I’d hoped I’d be since it’s the end of the series.

I’m officially on vacation now, so I hope to have more reading time. Wish me luck.

Rowena: I read a couple of books this week despite getting really bad news about one of my good friends. I seem to be losing myself in books even though I am deeply saddened by my real life right now. I finished The Real Deal by Lauren Blakely and thought it was a cute read even though their fake romance never felt fake. After that, I read Every Time You Go Away by Beth Harbison and didn’t get the story that I thought I would get and even though there were slow parts to that book, I’m glad that I finished it.

Now, I’m reading A Duke by Default by Alyssa Cole but I’m not that far into it so I can’t tell if I’m loving it or not. I like what I’ve read so far so I’m hopeful that I will love it. After this, I plan on reading Untamed by Pamela Clare to continue my Summer Reading Challenge. I also plan on reading Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs for my buddy review with Holly.

A serial killer is on the loose in San Diego, and he has a most unusual M.O.: With each kill, he leaves behind objects with unclear meanings. Most of the recent killings are centered near Kendra Michaels’ home and office, so it comes as no great surprise when the FBI shows up at her door. The investigators soon make a startling discovery: the left-behind objects are actually souvenirs of other unsolved serial murder cases in various U.S. cities. And the new cases feature “holdback” characteristics of the other murders unknown to the general public. Kendra realizes that the killer has come to challenge and taunt her. The investigators become his newest targets, even as Kendra slowly begins to suspect that one of them may be the killer himself. She must find the killer as the body count rises, and to do so she relies on her own ”dream team” of agent-for-hire Adam Lynch and private investigator Jessie Mercado. They must risk everything to defeat a psychopath whose terrifying plan is years in the making.
