Rowena: I just finished reading The Bridgerton’s Happily Ever After by Julia Quinn and as far as romances go, I’m not sure what to read next. At the moment, I’m reading Period 8 by Chris Crutcher so we’ll see how I end up liking that. What I’m really in the mood for is a light contemporary YA. Something that’s not bogged down with dark drama. Something with a summer romance or something like that. I’ll have to look through my TBR pile to see what fits the bill but for now? I’m reading Period 8.
Holly: I can’t believe it’s the 15th of March already. I’ve been in a slump the last week and a half. My reading has seriously declined. I’ve only managed to read 3 books and they were all re-reads (which I’m sure doesn’t surprise you at all).
I re-read three Kristen Ashley books. Sweet Dreams, Games of the Heart and Motorcycle Man. Sweet Dreams and Games of the Heart are probably my favorite Ashley books (along with The Gamble). Motorcylce Man is a book I love to hate. Once I start reading it I can’t stop, but I want to. OMG how I want to. My blood pressure rises every time I read it. I alternately want to junk punch Tack and..junk punch him. And..still I love him. I’m sick. I probably need to see a professional.
What are you reading this week? Anything we should add to our TBR pile?
Finishing up Lord of Darkness by Elizabeth Hoyt. I’m taking notes for the next book, because I had so much time following the leftover plotlines!
How did you like The Bridgerton’s Happily Ever After? I’m waiting for my copy to arrive 🙂 (I got the UK edition because it’s cheaper :D) and I hope I like it, though I’ve already read all the ones published.
Nalini Singh’s Anthology – Wild Invitation. A little something to cleanse the palate with until the Obsidian one comes out.
I am reading She Tempts the Duke by Lorraine Heath. Really good, but maybe not that light reading you are looking for. Carolyn Brown’s Spikes & Spurs series is pretty light reading with some hot cowboys. A Royal Pain by Megan Mulry may be a YA & that was pretty good. Decked With Holly by Marnie Bates was cute.
I can sympathize with the reading slump. I’ve been reading Vivian Arend’s book, High Risk, for over a week now and I’m just not feeling it. It’s not bad but this is waaay long for me to be reading one book. It doesn’t help that I’ve got major drama right now…
Rowena, try Play With Me by Piper Shelly. It’s fun, summery, well written and light.
I finished That Scandalous Summer by Meredith Duran and really enjoyed it. This author is great at character development. I’m now reading A Most Improper Rumor by Emma Wildes.
Finally read my first Kristen Ashley (The Gamble) last week, LOVED it! Thanks for the recommendation, Holly 🙂 This week i am reading Rush by Maya Banks. I am enjoying it so far.
Miss Rowena – I would like to recommend that you read “My most excellent year : a novel of love, Mary Poppins, & Fenway Park” by Steve Kluger. I just finished it and thought it was delightful!
