Another month filled with fab releases that I cannot wait for…and here’s what I’ve got ants in my pants for:
1. Stalker Girl by Rosemary Graham.
Carly never meant to become a stalker. She just wanted to find out who Brian started dating after he dumped her. But a little harmless online research turns into a quick glance, and that turns into an afternoon of watching.
This book has me mighty curious as to how someone becomes a stalker. How exactly do you fall into something like that? I’m very interested in seeing how this story comes together because it’s got disaster written all over it (as in disaster is waiting for the main character who becomes a stalker not like the book itself is going to be a disaster) so I want to read this book. The cover doesn’t do much for me but the blurb definitely intrigued me. I must read this book because my nosy self just can’t not read it.
Chambers pens a Cinderella story about a college student whose life changes when she’s discovered by a scout for the most prestigious modeling agency in America–for their plus-sized division. Now she must find the confidence to vanquish skinny rivals and banish scheming frenemies in her rise to superstardom.
This book sounds like it could be good. Backstabbing frenemies? Vanquishing skinny rivals? Yeah, count me in for this one… =P I’m curious to see how this story pans out.
3. Glee: The Beginning by Sophia Lowell.
Calling all Gleeks! Get more of your favorite characters in this official Glee prequel! All great performances deserve a warm-up! Enroll early at McKinley High–before New Directions was even a glimmer in Mr. Schuester’s eye. When did Rachel first decide Finn was more than just a jock? When did Puck and Quinn start their secret romance? And how did the fledgling Glee Club function without a fearless leader? Hint: It wasn’t exactly a perfect melody. Break out the gold stars and refill the slushies: It’s time to find out what happened to all your favorite charactersbeforethe show-mance began. Find out more at www.readglee.com.
I facking love this show. It’s one of those shows that keeps a smile on your face from beginning to end, week in and week out. I’ve gotten so many people hooked on this show, it’s ridonkulous. I’d love to read this book to see if the books match up to my love of the show. Finn, Rachel, Puck and Quinn? Yeah, I’m so on top of this one!
4. Aces Up by Lauren Barnholdt.
Seventeen-year-old high school senior Shannon Card needs money. And lots of it. She’s been admitted to Wellesley, but her dad just lost his job, and somehow she has to come up with a year of tuition herself. But Shannon’s dream of making big bucks waitressing at the local casino, the Collosio, disappears faster than a gambler’s lucky streak. Her boss is a tyrant, her coworker is nuts, and her chances of balancing a tray full of drinks while wearing high-heeled shoes are slim to none. Worse, time is running out, and Shannon hasn’t made even half the money she’d hoped. When Shannon receives a mysterious invitation to join Aces Up, a secret network of highly talented college poker players, at first she thinks No way. She has enough to worry about: keeping her job, winning the coveted math scholarship at school, and tutoring her secret crush, Max. But when Shannon musters up the nerve to kiss Max and he doesn’t react at all, the allure of Aces Up and its sexy eighteen-year-old leader, Cole, is suddenly too powerful to ignore. Soon Shannon’s caught up in a web of lies and deceit that makes worrying about tuition money or a high school crush seem like kid stuff. Still, when the money’s this good, is the fear of getting caught reason enough to fold?
Judging by the blurb, this book sounds like all kinds of fun. I’m mighty curious to see how Shannon deals with all of the crack up stuff that I know is going to come her way through out this book. I’m also mighty curious and very intrigued by this secret crush, Max. So yeah, count me in with this one!
5. The Julian Game by Adele Griffin.
All new girl Raye Archer wants is a way into the in crowd, so when ice-queen Ella Parker picks her to get back at her ex, the gorgeous Julian Kilgarry, Raye is more than game. Even if it means creating a fake Facebook identity so she can learn enough about Julian to sabotage him. It’s a fun and dangerous thrill at first, but Raye hadn’t counted on falling for Julian herself–and igniting Ella’s rage.
As Raye works to reconcile the temptress Elizabeth with her real-life self, Ella serves up her own revenge, creating an online smear campaign of nasty rumors and trashy photographs. Suddenly notorious, Raye has to find a way out of the web of deceit that she’s helped to build, and back to the relationships that matter.
Adele Griffin’s riveting novel explores the issues of generation Facebook: the desire to be someone else, real versus online friends, and the pitfalls and fallouts of posting your personal life online for all the world to judge.
It was actually the last paragraph on this blurb that sold me on this book. The issues of generation Facebook. I’m learning first hand through my nieces and nephews the drama that can come from having a Facebook and putting your business out there for everyone to see so I’m curious to see how this book brings about these topics and the blurb itself is intriguing itself so yeah, this book has found its way onto my wish list.
Cheerleader Isobel Lanley is horrified when she is paired with Varen Nethers for an English project, which is due—so unfair—on the day of the rival game. Cold and aloof, sardonic and sharp-tongued, Varen makes it clear he’d rather not have anything to do with her either. But when Isobel discovers strange writing in his journal, she can’t help but give this enigmatic boy with the piercing eyes another look.
Soon, Isobel finds herself making excuses to be with Varen. Steadily pulled away from her friends and her possessive boyfriend, Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into the dream world Varen has created through the pages of his notebook, a realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life.
As her world begins to unravel around her, Isobel discovers that dreams, like words, hold more power than she ever imagined, and that the most frightening realities are those of the mind. Now she must find a way to reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmares.
His life depends on it.
This book kind of reminds me of Perfect Chemistry only with a goth poet instead of a Mexican gang member. I enjoyed PC but not nearly as much as many others did but this book has me wondering about Isobel (weird name for a modern cheerleader) and Varen. I’m nosy so I want to know what his poems say…=)
7. The Imperfect Girlfriend by Lucy-Anne Holmes.
We kissed until it became necessary to stop so that we could breathe, by which time my lips were so swollen it looked like I’d been pleasuring a brillo pad. We grinned at each other again and I felt the urge to utter something brilliantly intellectual.
‘Have I mentioned that I’m hopelessly in love with you?’
Actress Sarah Sargeant has finally landed the perfect boyfriend. But as she leaves London for LA, Sarah finds herself morphing from the perfect girlfriend, baby voicing ‘i love you’s, into a nutty one who throws phones and screams a lot.
Where did it all go wrong? Was it the photo of a semi-naked ex-girlfriend doing a downward dog she found in her boyfriend’s filofax? Or maybe it’s the steamy sex scene she films with the handsomest man in the world, ever.
I’m a huge fan of chick lit and right now, it’s about the only thing that I want to read and yet haven’t read in a while. *sigh* This book sounds like it would be all kinds of good so I so want to read this book.
8. Perfect Blend by Sue Margolis.
After enduring her share of commitment-phobic boyfriends, Amy Brown trades in her high-powered PR job and designer shoes to embark on the journey of single motherhood. Now, with a rambunctious boy of six and chaotic shifts serving decadent muffins and high-octane brew at a local coffee bar, Amy could use a fix herself—preferably the sexy, smoky-eyed grande type.
No one is more shocked than Amy to discover that Sam Draper is made perfectly to order: hot, sweet, and delicious. There is just one teeny problem. He’s the architect for the neighborhood’s brand-new Bean Machine, her employer’s fiercest rival. Still, Sam is sexy, fun, and really likes Amy’s son, Charlie. Amy can’t resist the steamy passion—or the feeling that Sam is hiding a secret or two. Could there be something rotten in the beans that make up the Machine’s secret blend? Or is it something more personal? Harnessing her untapped yet formidable journalistic skills, Amy blows the lid off a story that will change her life, but will Sam stick around to share it?
Perfect Blend is as addictive as a Frappuccino—but not nearly as fattening.
Another chick lit title that I’m very interested in reading. I’ve read a few of Margolis’ books in the past and have enjoyed them, I wonder how much I’d end up enjoying this one. It sounds hilarious and I love those forbidden type romances…so I’ll definitely be checking this one out.
9. A Funny Thing About Love by Rebecca Farnsworth.
The funny thing about love is that just when you think you-ve got it sorted, it turns round and bites you on the behind.Which is exactly what-s happened to Carmen Miller. Her ex husband-s girlfriend is pregnant, her career as a comedy agent is going down the pan, she-s made a fool of herself with fellow agent Will Hunter, a man she-s fancied for ages, and to cap it all she has to move out of her flat. Surely things can-t get any worse. Moving down to Brighton to write the TV comedy series that she-s always dreamed about, Carmen meets the divine Daniel. A man so gorgeous, she doesn-t even mind that he-s got long hair. It seems that Carmen-s life is on the up again.Until, that is… love bites again.Looks like Carmen-s back where she started. But could it be that love isn-t the problem? Maybe she-s just been choosing the wrong men.
This book sounds like something that would keep me in fits of laughter through out the entire book and that’s just the kind of book that I’m in the mood for right now. I want to know what happens to Carmen and I want to know who the heck Will Hunter is and what happened between them. So yeah, this one is definitely on my radar…a must check out book for me.
10. The Fame Factor by Polly Courtney.
Does for the music industry what The Devil Wears Prada did for fashion.By day, Zoë Kidd lives a tedious existence, following orders and trying to appease her parents. By night, she’s the raucous lead singer of all-girl rock band, Dirty Money. For six years, Dirty Money has toured the London scene, playing pubs, clubs, shopping centres and the odd public toilet. They’re gifted, they’re beautiful and they’re determined to make it to the top.So when the American hit-maker Louis Castle appears at one of their gigs with talk of record deals and stadium tours, it seems as though their dreams are finally beginning to come true. But fame turns out to be more elusive and divisive than any of the girls could imagine…The Fame Factor is a fast-moving story of friendship, resilience and revelation, exposing the darker side to an industry obsessed with the limelight.
The blurb for this one sounds good so I want it. Seriously, that’s all that I have to say about this one. I read the blurb and I’m sold. I want.
