I finally got Tin Queen (Tin Gypsy #6) by Devney Perry in my hands. I’ve had it since Tuesday, but haven’t started it yet. I’m heading out of town for the long weekend and want to enjoy it with no interruptions. In the meantime, I started The Fixer (Professions #1) by Jessica Gadziala. I’m not very far into it, but it’s promising to be pretty good.

I’m listening to Burn for Me (Hidden Legacy #1) by Ilona Andrews. This is a reread for me. I’ve never listened to this series on audio. I love the narrator of IA’s books so I decided to give it a try. I can’t wait to finish it. I love Nevada and Mad Rogan.

I read the Class 5 series by Michelle Diener. I finished Dark Horse, then immediately read Dark Deeds, Dark Minds and Dark Matters. I tried an anthology by the same author, Interference/Insurgency next, which is a prequel to the Verdant String series. I enjoyed it, though the world-building was pretty dense. I’ll probably pick up the first full length book in the series soon.

I also read Taming Chaos by Anna Carven, which is the first book in the Darkstar Mercenaries series. It’s a spinoff of another series I haven’t read, and I felt like I was missing a lot of the backstory, though I did enjoy the story. Now I’m reading Dark Planet Warriors, the first book in the original series. So far it’s a bit slow, but I’m looking forward to seeing how things ended up where they are in Taming Chaos.

I just read Caitlin Crews’s excellent HP, THE SICILIAN’S FORGOTTEN WIFE. It starts out as a standard revenge-marriage story, but then the hero gets amnesia and, because he doesn’t know who he is, the heroine tells him he is her servant and does all her cooking & cleaning! I expected the angsty heartache, but was taken off-guard by how funny the book was as the heroine turned the tables on the hero. Highly recommended.

Holly, so glad to know that you enjoyed Dark Horse and the follow on books. There is also one short piece that features Rose and Sazo, Dark Ambitions. I haven’t read the Verdant String books so look forward to your impressions.

    Over the past week ~

    — Nora Roberts’ The Awakening: The Dragon Heart Legacy, Book 1 which I somehow managed to miss last year. I enjoyed it.
    — Holdout: A Novel by Jeffrey Kluger; this is a just published science fiction book that I enjoyed.
    — Wayward Souls (Souls of the Road Book 1) by Devon Monk; I enjoyed this paranormal novella and hope to read on in the series.
