What Are You Reading? (555)

This last week has not been a good reading week for me. I’m not sure I’m in a slump exactly, but I have been so indecisive about what book to start. I go back and forth between Rock Chick Renegade by Kristen Ashley, Motorcycle Man by Kristen Ashley, and Killer by Jessica Gadziala. Or maybe Still Standing which is a new book out by Kristen Ashley. Sigh.

I was going to listen to What I did for Love by SEP, but I just realized that I’ve already read it. That’s how my February is going. I want to listen to another SEP book, but I don’t know which one. Any recommendations?

Holly

I finished the Court of Moonlight and Destruction series by K.M. Shea. Last week I read book one, and this week I read books two and three, Crown of Moonlight and The Queen’s Crown. Crown of Moonlight was my favorite of the three, but I enjoyed The Queen’s Crown as well. I discovered a new author this week in Juliette Cross. I read Wolf Gone Wild and really enjoyed it. I’ve been craving PNR lately and this was just what I was looking for. I’m looking forward to reading more from her backlist.

I listened to A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas and started the second book, A Conspiracy in Belgravia. I really love the girl power in this series.

Rowena

I’m not reading much this week. After I finished The Intimacy Experiment by Rosie Danan, I started Wicked Fox by Kat Cho and so far, I haven’t read much in it. I was distracted by first My Mister and now, Reply 1988. Both of these dramas are really good. I’m hoping to finish Wicked Fox this weekend though (I’m not a football person so it’s just a regular ass weekend for me, haha). After Wicked Fox, I plan on jumping into The Beast of Beswick by Amelie Howard.

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

I just started Jackie Ashenden’s IN THE DARK, the first book of a duet (the sequel, WITH THE LIGHTS ON, is scheduled for May). It features both best friend’s sister and Beauty & the Beast tropes. I love Ashenden’s angsty style and I’m already a third of the way through this one.

    Since last time ~

    — The Dutch House: A Novel by Ann Patchett for my book group. Had I not been reading this for the group, I’d have put it aside early on. However, by the halfway point, I was quite invested and overall I enjoyed it.
    — a prequel novella A Haunting at Midwinter (San Amaro Investigations #0.5) by Kai Butler which I enjoyed. I hope, at some point, to read on in the series.
    — Chuffed (Finnshifters Book 1) by Tia Fielding; this was a pleasant contemporary romance, but I’m not inclined to read on in the series.
    — Fifty in Reverse: A Novel by Bill Flanagan is a book which I quite enjoyed; I’ll recommend it to others who enjoy books with time travel or similar themes. It’s a quick read and I finished it in one evening. It’s a very new book and even mentions COVID-19 in passing. I also found it interesting that one of the cover blurbs was from Salman Rushdie.
    — and a boatload of samples.

I just finished reading Remember When by Judith McNaught. I was in the mood to read one of my older books.
