What Are You Reading? (518)

Casee: I’m reading Lethal Game by Christine Feehan. I haven’t gotten very far into it, but it’s really good so far. After I finish this one up, I’m going to go back and read the Ravenels series by Lisa Kleypas. I’m on vacation next week and I’m going to read alllll the books.

I’m listening to Lover by Penelope Sky. It’s the third book in her Betrothed series and I am highly enjoying it. I knew this series would get better. I’m glad I waited it out.

Holly: I finished Strange Love by ann Aguirre. While not my favorite of her books I did enjoy it. I also read Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas and The Lady in Coppergate Tower by Nancy Campbell Allen. I really enjoyed both.

I reread White Hot and Wildfire by Ilona Andrews.

I’m on vacation next week and fully intend to read all the books. Wish me luck.

Rowena: It took me a lot longer to listen/read Devious Lies by Parker S. Huntington and it helped that book club was postponed until this coming Monday because that book pissed me off at every turn so I kept putting it down. The hero was a fucking dickhead that did absolutely nothing for me. I stayed pissed the entire time and even after the hero stops being an ass, I still didn’t care for the story, the characters and just…everything. So that’s a 1 star read. After that, I read Strange Love by Ann Aguirre for my budy read with Ames and Holly. Like Holly, it wasn’t my favorite book but I didn’t hate it. It was very different from what I normally read but even so, I liked it.

Now, I’m finishing up Magic Strikes by Ilona Andrews and will be jumping right into Magic Bleeds. I’m back in the Kate Daniels world and I’m so happy about that.

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

    Recent reads here ~

    — finished my book group book which I’ve been reading since the end of January…yay! Ninth Street Women: Lee Krasner, Elaine de Kooning, Grace Hartigan, Joan Mitchell, and Helen Frankenthaler: Five Painters and the Movement That Changed Modern Art by Mary Gabriel

I think this book would most interest those who like Art History, the study of women, US history from 1930 to 1960, or New York history. The book was incredibly well researched; it has 716 pages of text and almost 140 pages of dense endnotes. It was easy to read; it just went on…and on…and on! I definitely learned about five women of whom I’d been unaware.
    — Principles of Spookology (The Spectral Files Book 2) by S.E. Harmon which is a contemporary paranormal mystery romance; I enjoyed it.
    — Granddad’s Cup of Tea by Amy Rae Durreson is a short novella (longish short story) which I quite enjoyed; it’s a romance between two older men.

    Happy reading all!

Earlier this week, I downloaded an anthology of 13 romances called HIS ONLY VALENTINE. So far, I’ve read and enjoyed Sarah Mayberry’s ALMOST A BRIDE and Kelly Hunter’s THE COURAGE OF ELI JACKSON. Both are, in different ways, about starting over when, for one reason or another, you lose your first love.
