What Are You Reading? (506)

Casee: I’m reading Into in the Dark by Karen Rose. I’m just about finished with it. Every time I read one of her books, I remember how much I love her. She blends the romance and the suspense like a champ. I’ve not read three of her books. Reading this book will sure make me go back and read them. When I’m finished with Into in the Dark, I’m going to pick up Where Winter Finds You by J.R. Ward. I just can’t with this series.

I’m listening to Stand by A.L. Jackson. It’s the fifth (and final?) book in her Bleeding Stars series. I haven’t decided what I’m going to read next. Probably Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas.

Holly: I’m still not reading much in the way of new books. I want to read, I just can’t decide what. I finished An Inquiry into Love and Death by Simone St. James, The Governess Game by Tessa Dare and Smitten by the Brit by Melonie Johnson. I liked The St. James, but the middle was rather slow. I enjoyed The Governess Game, but not as much as the first book in the series. Smitten by the Brit was just okay. I’d actually started this book months ago and set it aside. I really want to love this series, but something about her writing fails to pull me fully into her books. I’m hopeful the next one will be the one.

I continued re-reading The Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs with Hunting Ground and Fair Game. I haven’t decided yet if I’ll finish out the series or stop here for now. I adore these books, but I really want to focus on reading new stuff. I also re-read Good Boy by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy and Hold On by Kristen Ashley.

I’m not sure what I’m going to read next. I think I might start A Heart of Blood and Ashes by Milla Vane. That’s right, Meljean Brook, writing as Milla Vane, is releasing a new book! THIS IS NOT A DRILL! The only reason I didn’t immediately start it the day I got it a week ago is because I know I’ll have to wait for the next book in the series.

Rowena: I can’t believe that we’ve been doing this feature for 506 weeks. We’ve been doing this thing for a long ass time. I’ve only read one book in the last two, almost three weeks. I read Open House (Uptown #2) by Ruby Lang and enjoyed it. I thought it was a quick and fun read with two main characters that I enjoyed a lot. Now, I’m trying to read my book club book before Monday but it’s slow going. I’m reading Goddess of Spring (Goddess Summoning #2) by P.C. Cast. Wish me luck! After this, I plan on finally jumping into my buddy read with Holly, Lady Derring Takes a Lover by Julie Anne Long.

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

    Since last time ~

    — read Nathan Lowell’s second book in the series Half Share (Trader’s Tales from the Golden Age of the Solar Clipper Book 2) and enjoyed it, too. (In last week’s thread, I said that Quarter Share would also be fine for teen readers. This book has more adult themes, nothing graphic, than Quarter Share.)
    — read and enjoyed (save for the ending that came too fast) To Be Taught, If Fortunate by Becky Chambers which is a science fiction novella. The ending has an element of Frank Stockton’s The Lady, or the Tiger? in that it leaves you with possibilities rather than an answer.
    — enjoyed reading Dauntless by Lisa Henry which was a male/male romance novella with a mystery.
    — enjoyed browsing Hand Lettering for Relaxation by Amy Latta. This is a very approachable book that includes ample practice space should you wish to use it that way. (I don’t think my library would appreciate my doing so!)
