What Are You Reading? (502)

Casee: I’ve read two books so far this month. Two (2!). Send help. So I’m still reading Vendetta Road by Christine Feehan. I’m liking it so far. Mostly. There are a few things that don’t work for me. I’ll get over them because it’s Christine Feehan and I love her. By the time I finish this book, I’ll have to start The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah for my book club.

I’m listening to Heart Thief by Robin D. Owens. Holly and Tracy convinced me to continue the series. I read Heart Mate way back in the day and didn’t really love it. This is the second book in the series. I wasn’t sure about the narrator, but now I’m really digging him.

Holly: I finished reading Angel in a Devil’s Arms by Julie Anne Long. It was good, though I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as the first book, Lady Derring Takes a Lover. I also finished listening to Heart Thief by Robin D. Owens, then moved on to Heart Sight. Both were good and I enjoyed returning to Celta, but I’m going to take a break from the series now. I also re-read Fairytale Come Alive and Quiet Man by Kristen Ashley.

Currently I’m listening to Silence for the Dead by Simone St. James and reading Warrior Fae Trapped by K.F. Breene.

Rowena: I read some books, y’all!! I don’t want to discuss much more than I read some books. I don’t want to jinx what I’ve got going right now so here’s what I read this week. I read The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams, which was a fun read. I also listened to Huge Deal by Lauren Layne for book club this coming Monday then I read Marriage on Madison Avenue by Lauren Layne, because I needed some more Lauren Layne in my life and enjoyed both of those reads and now I’m reading Blitzed by Alexa Martin. I’m really enjoying Alexa Martin’s writing style and I’m stoked that we’re getting Brynn’s book so I can’t wait for lunch time when I get dig right back into that one. So good. As soon as I’m done with Blitzed, I’ll be jumping into Four Days of You and Me by Miranda Kenneally because I can’t help myself. I’m a huge fan of her Hundred Oaks series and I’m mighty curious about life after that series so I’m going in and I don’t even care that this book doesn’t come out until next year.

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

I’m slowly working my way thru Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling series. I usually only read a book every month or two, but as soon as I finished Tangle of Need two weeks ago, I knew I wanted to read Heart of Obsidian immediately. Tangle of Need was not one of my favorites but I was dying to read Kaleb’s book and I’m loving it. I also read an ARC of Get A Life Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert which is being released at the beginning of November. She specializes in adorable, cinnamon bun, caretaker heroes, which is my favorite type of hero these days.

My favorite read this week was Caitlin Crews’s incredibly sexy THE RISK, the second book in The Billionaires Club series published by Dare (each book written by a different author; Jackie Ashenden’s THE DEBT was book one). THE RISK is about a ballet dancer who meets a billionaire for an anonymous sexual scenario. Naturally, things develop beyond anonymity. Very hot and emotional.

    Recent reads here ~

    — Evidence of the Affair by Taylor Jenkins Reid. This is described as a short story, but I’d quibble with that description. It’s a story that is composed of letters by four people. It begins with a letter written by a woman who has just found love letters written to her husband by another woman; she writes to the husband of that woman. And the story goes from there. The time period is the seventies. I enjoyed it.
    — Gateway to the Moon: A Novel by Mary Morris for my book group. It was rather ironic to finish this on Columbus Day as Columbus figures in the book and not in a positive light. While I’m happy to have read the book, I’ll caution that it contains rape, torture, and more rape and torture.
    — Dark Matters (Class 5 Series Book 4) by Michelle Diener was released this week, and I’ve already finished it. I enjoyed it. This is a science fiction romance series that is best read in order. Incidentally, the first book in the series, Dark Horse, is currently free ~ https://www.amazon.com/Dark-Horse-Class-Michelle-Diener-ebook/dp/B00Z9R1W9W?ref=silk_at_search
    — Bone Rider by J. Fally was a book that I quite enjoyed. It was loaned to me by an online acquaintance, but I believe I’ll be buying it to reread. It’s a male/male/alien romance with significant violence.
    — the short work Monster Till Midnight: A Cross-Dimensional Love Story by E.J. Russell which is currently free. It was a pleasant story.
