What Are You Reading? (501)

Casee: I’m currently reading Vendetta Road by Christine Feehan. It’s pretty intense. I’m enjoying it.

I’m listening to Drowning to Breathe by A.L. Jackson. I’ve been listening to it since last week. I haven’t had much time to listen or read this week.

Holly: I finished Saving Grace by Julie Garwood, a long-time favorite. Even after all these years, it still gets me every time. After that I re-read Heart Fate and Heart Change by Robin D. Owens (the entire series is currently available in the Audible Escape package if you subscribe). The Celta series is a favorite and I was in the mood for something otherworldly. Now I’m listening to Heart Thief (yes, I am reading/listening all out of order).

I’m currently in the middle of Angel in a Devil’s Arms by Julie Anne Long. It’s really good so far. I loved the first book in the series, so I have high hopes this one will continue on as it began.

Rowena: This week was a really good reading week for me. I read so many books. I read Moonlighter by Sarina Bowen, The Bride by Julie Garwood, Twice in a Blue by Christina Lauren and last night I started The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams. I should finish that book tonight and then I’m going to jump into Marriage on Madison Avenue by Lauren Layne because yay for best friends to lovers romances and a bigger YAY for finally getting to read Audrey’s book. I’m stoked!

I enjoyed every single book that I read and I’m hoping and praying that my reading mojo will continue into this next week. Pray for me guys!

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

My favorite read this week was Kelly Hunter’s THE MAN SHE LOVES TO HATE. I know Harlequin Presents books aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but this one is beautifully written and emotionally nuanced. The premise is interesting: for many years, the heroine’s mother was the mistress of the hero’s (married) father, with all the associated antagonism and family angst. Then the hero & heroine are trapped together on a ski lift gondola during an avalanche. A lovely story about having to step out of the long shadow of the past to get what you want now. Highly recommended.

    Recent reads ~

    — Solitude: A Post-Apocalyptic Thriller (Dimension Space Book One) by Dean M. Cole which proved to be an interesting read. Basically, something happens and there is a one man left on Earth and one woman left on the space station. This is first in a series that I might continue at some point. (If you have Amazon Prime, this book is in the Prime library.)
    — the six story Forward collection which features stories by Blake Crouch, N. K. Jemisin, Veronica Roth, Amor Towles, Paul Tremblay, and Andy Weir. Each story ended with me going hmmm. I liked all of the stories to some extent, but my favorite (which had me going back to read the end, and even now I’m not convinced I quite know what happened) was Ark by Veronica Roth. Should you have Amazon Prime, these stories are all in the Prime library.
    — I was fortunate to win an advanced readers’ copy of Nora Roberts’ forthcoming The Rise of Magicks: Chronicles of The One, Book 3. It proved to be a somewhat spooky read. I enjoyed the book, but I don’t think this is a series I’ll be quick to reread.
    — I also read a boatload of samples.
