What Are You Reading? (+ Helen Hoang Giveaway)

Casee: I’m reading Motorcycle Man by Kristen Ashley. I’m aware that some people didn’t enjoy Tack and Tyra’s book, but I am really liking it. I believe it is because I got to know them in KA’s Chaos series first. I’m hoping to finish it today so I can start Archangel’s War by Nalini Singh. Honestly, I tried to put Motorcycle Man down and pick up Archangel’s War, but I couldn’t make myself do that. I’m anal that way.

I’m going to start Getting Played on audio by Emma Chase today. This is book two in the Getting Some series. I absolutely loved Getting Schooled and am really looking forward to listening to Getting Played.

Holly: I finished Sin & Magic by K.F. Breene and immediately read Sin & Salvation. I really enjoyed the trilogy and look forward to the next book in the series. I listened to Even Tree Nymphs Get the Blues by Molly Harper, a Mystic Bayou novella. It was sweet and light…just what I was in the mood for. I read The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez. That book was problematic for me in a number of ways. I plan to review it with Rowena later this month. I hope she enjoys it more than I did.

I’m currently reading Archangel’s War by Nalini Singh and listening to Getting Played by Emma Chase.

Rowena: I’ve been reading the same book for the last four days. The heroine is pissing me off and if I wasn’t reading this book for a buddy review, I probably would have DNF’d it but I’m trying to push through and finish it, but it’s hard guys. Pray for me. That book is Waiting on Tom Hanks by Kerry Winfree. I am not enjoying this book as much as I thought I would. I legit want to smack some sense into this heroine and I honestly don’t see what the hero sees in her. Ugh.

I did read The Rest of the Story by Sarah Dessen, Superfan by Sarina Bowen, and Natalie Tan’s Book of Fortune and Luck by Roselle Lim and while I really enjoyed the Dessen, the Lim didn’t live up to the hype I was giving it. It’s been an off reading week for me, for sure because I also tried reading The Perfect Date by Evelyn Lozada and that was a train wreck for me, causing me to quit it about a third of the way in. I really need the next book that I read to be good dammit. Wish me luck.

A heartwarming and refreshing debut novel that proves one thing: there's not enough data in the world to predict what will make your heart tick.

Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases--a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old.

It doesn't help that Stella has Asperger's and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice--with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can't afford to turn down Stella's offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan--from foreplay to more-than-missionary position...

Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but crave all of the other things he's making her feel. Their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic...

    Recent reads here ~

    — The Keeper of Lost Causes: The First Department Q Novel by Jussi Adler-Olsen was a rather dark mystery which I enjoyed.
    — The History of Soul 2065 by Barbara Krasnoff is a collection of some twenty stories that feature family members of two girls that meet prior to world war I. The stories contain magic, the inexplicable, Death and the God of Cancer, concentration camp survivors, ghosts, pigeons, seders, and more. Many of the stories were quite moving, and I enjoyed the book.

Read Meara Platt’s The Touch of Love and am 3/4 of the way through Joanna Shupe’s The Rogue of Fifth Avenue. I enjoyed The Touch of Love but am loving Rogue of Fifth Avenue!

I just finished Rachel Reid’s absolutely wonderful HEATED RIVALRY, an m/m romance about two professional hockey players who play for rival teams and have secretly been lovers for a decade. Beautifully-written, sexy, and emotional—Reid charts the men’s feeling for each other from “just scratching an itch” hookups in their late teens to their dawning realization years later that they are in love with each other. I can’t say enough about how good this book is—one of my favorite reads of this year so far—just grab a copy and read it already!
