New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh stuns with a sizzling contemporary romance... A bad boy wrapped in a sexy, muscled, grown-up package might be worth a little risk... Molly Webster has always followed the rules. After an ugly scandal tore apart her childhood and made her the focus of the media's harsh spotlight, she vowed to live an ordinary life. No fame. No impropriety. No pain. Then she meets Zachary Fox, a tattooed bad boy rocker with a voice like whiskey and sin, and a touch that could become an addiction.
A one-night stand with the hottest rock star on the planet, that's all it was meant to be...
Fox promises scorching heat and dangerous pleasure, coaxing Molly to extend their one-night stand into a one-month fling. After that, he'll be gone forever, his life never again intersecting with her own. Sex and sin and sensual indulgence, all with an expiration date. No ties, no regrets. Too late, Molly realizes it isn't only her body that's become addicted to Fox, but her heart...

This book and I have a love/hate relationship. I beta read this book way back when. I didn’t particularly care for it. I liked Molly, but I didn’t really like Fox. That all changed when I read it for the second time. I really liked Molly and I liked Fox. This time around, I liked Molly and adored Fox. Just adored him. Sigh. How can you not love Zachary Fox?

Both Molly and Fox are extremely damaged people. Their childhoods were horrendous. I mean like there is no therapy in the world that will make it seem right. Molly had to endure the shame of her father sleeping with an underage girl. A girl that was a friend of hers. As Molly’s father was heavy in New Zealand politics, the press would not go away. Although Molly was a teenager, they considered her fair game. It was enough for Molly to want a normal, quiet, and above all, safe adult life.

Fox has his own demons. He was abandoned by his mom when he was young. Sure, he was dropped off at one of the most prestigious boarding schools for boys, but he rarely saw her after that. She had moved onto a new life and a new family. One that he had no part in. It was years later that he learned that not only did she replace her family, but she actually replaced him with another son named Zachary. So if that doesn’t fuck a guy up, I don’t know what would.

Molly and Fox are instantly and insanely attracted to each other. Seriously, it was hot. They agree to a one month affair while Fox and his band are in the country. After that Fox has to return to Los Angeles and his life as the lead singer of one of the most famous bands in the world. The life Fox lives is so far from the life Molly has planned that she has no problem only committing to a month.

So the issue in this book is that Molly is extremely insecure and jealous. She also doesn’t want to be in the spotlight, but she eventually decides she doesn’t want to let Fox go. She also knows that it’s going to happen because Fox isn’t the type to settle down. She doesn’t know that it was only a few days after they started their affair that Fox decided he was going to keep her.

This book is about two people navigating a life together that neither of them were prepared for. Fox is determined to have Molly in his life, but is also determined to protect her at all costs, even from himself if necessary. Molly is determined to take care of Fox when he doesn’t take care of himself. She’s not going to let him disappear into his studio for days without eating because his demons are eating at him. This was a story about love and communicating. About compromise. I love it more each time I read it.

I should also mention that I tried to listen to this on audio, but it was terrible.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.
