"The Dark Protectors are Back!

Vampire King Ronan Kayrs wasn't supposed to survive the savage sacrifice he willingly endured to rid the world of the ultimate evil. He wasn't supposed to emerge in this time and place, and he sure as hell wasn't supposed to finally touch the woman who's haunted his dreams for centuries. Yet here he is, in an era where vampires are hidden, the enemy has grown stronger, and his mate has no idea of the power she holds.

Dr. Faith Cooper is flummoxed by irrefutable proof that not only do vampires exist . . . they're hot blooded, able to walk in sunlight, and shockingly sexy. Faith has always depended on science, but the restlessness she feels around this predatory male defies reason. Especially when it grows into a hunger only he can satisfy--that is if they can survive the evil hunting them both.

"Hot and fast from beginning to end." --Kate Douglas on Fated

"Sizzling sex scenes and a memorable cast." --Publishers Weekly on Claimed

"A fast-paced, excitement-filled explosion of action... Zanetti keeps getting better." - RT Book Reviews on Marked, 4.5 Stars Top Pick"

Ronan Kayrs wakes up in the twenty first century having no idea where he is. What he does know is that he isn’t supposed to be there, he’s not all full strength, and he’s found his mate. All in about five minutes. There is sort of an off-brand of the Kurjans that are even more evil than the Kurjans. Ronan and his fellow warriors did a spell five hundred years ago to trap their leader. The fact that Ronan is awake means that it’s only a matter of time before that world collapses and he is free. Now Ronan is awake and facing the woman that he has dreamed of for hundreds of years. The only problem now is that vampires are not only hidden, they’re treated as myths. So how is he going to get Faith to see him as he truly is.

Dr. Faith Cooper is called in when a perfectly health man appears to be in a coma for 25 years. Faith immediately suspects a prank when she sees the shape he is in. Imagine her surprise when the patient wakes up, starts talking about vampires and demons, then tells her that she is his mate. Laughable. Faith is a woman of science and in her world, vampires don’t exist. Things start changing when the off-brand (I can’t remember their name for the life of me) Kurjans start coming after Ronan and Faith. It’s then that Faith is brought fully into the world of the Realm, vampires, witches, and demons.

So the main problem here is that Ronan and his circle are trying to find three keys. AKA three women. Faith’s sister happens to be one of those women and she keeps it quiet. Her sister has been in coma herself ever since an accident and Faith has been unable to reach her, even with her gift. See, Faith can talk to people in comas. Weird, right? She’s never been able to talk to her sister however.

This book was unusual because of Ronan. He was a throwback to the time where men took care of women and women did what men told them. Faith rebels at that more than other women probably would because she’s always been so independent. I did like this book despite the almost weirdness of it. It’s kind of hard to explain without going into major spoilers. Overall, I enjoyed it and hope that we don’t have to wait other handful of years for the next Dark Protectors book.
